Hmmm, that's weird cos this is basically the same machine I have here and so far I haven't found any problems. I'll check with Cubase 5 once again (I have Cubase 6 here).

Anyway does it happen immediately when you open the plugin or some specific settings? Does it happen with all plugins, or just MEqualizer, or any particular ones? Any info could be useful.

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. It would seem to be any of your plugins. I just loaded up the distortion, dynamics, stereo expander and delay into a new project, trying each one seperately. Exact same problem with all of them, if i move the mouse over the interface, the whole project stutters. Audio was ok this time tho but its just all the level meters freeze. Also the display on cubase freezes too. But if the mouse isn't over the plugins then everything works fine, cpu usage is really low(less than 10%), but it spikes immediately when the cursor is moved over the plugins.

It must be something to do with the way your interface is displayed? The only other plugin i've had this problem with was one by crysonic, i think it was called nxtasy. I've used literally hundreds of vst's over the years and not had this problem with any others. Maybe you're doing something different with regards to your graphic interface?

I am using the hd3000 integrated graphics, could it be a shared memory problem?

Wait a second aren't you using 32-bit plugins in 64-bit Cubase? (or vice-versa)

No i'm using the 32bit vst's on 32bit cubase. I just happen to have windows 7 64bit installed. I've tried both the vst and vst3 plugins, same problem.

Ok, and is it the latest version? Could you record a short screen video, so I can see what we are dealing with?

my daw isn't connected to the web, so i can't post a video. i only have minimal software on that pc as i want it just for music.

however, i've just tried the plugins on my 3 year old laptop and they work fine. its a far less powerful machine, so theres no reason the i7 shouldn't be able to handle them.

laptop specs are core2duo t9300@2.5ghz, geforce 8600m gt, 4gb ram, windows 7 64.

the version of cubase i'm using on both isn't the latest, its 5.1.2. i read a lot of problems people had with the update so i haven't installed it yet.

could it be an integrated graphics problem? as the cpu and graphics are sharing the same memory?

Post

Well, that narrows it to particular problems on your i7 computer. The shared memory - don't know, seems unlikely. Can you try another host on the i7 machine? For example Reaper is just a few megs. Just to check it out.

i have fixed the issue - i have a cheap geforce 210 with 1gb ram, fitted this, and the problem has disappeared. so it was either a problem with the intel graphics driver, cubase 5 or shared memory. who knows.

oh and i did test the plugins in ableton before i fitted the card and they worked fine. the problem was only there in cubase.

cheers!

Interesting ;). Anyway I'm glad it is ok now ;).
