Hi melda guys!

Is there any documentation about the channel mode settings?
I tried to use mfilter for separate adjustments of the
mid and side bands using channel mode "mono + stereo".

This mode promises the "separate processing of mono and stereo".
But how is this achieved? I didn't find any clues how to adjust these
channels separately! :?

Any ideas?

Post

Hi,

mono + stereo processes mono and stereo channels with the SAME settings. This makes usually no sense for equalizers and filters, but can be used for other effects, such as reverbs.
If you want to control M & S separately, you just need to use 2 instances, one for "mono" and the other for "stereo" ;).

Cheers!

Ah ok. Great!
Why not write a document about your routing concept?
Or does it exist and I didn't find it?

Anyway: Thanx for the answer. Really helped me push my limited
imagination a step further into the unlimited area.

Greetings and keep on!

My pleasure. And don't worry, there shall be a tutorial video about it ;).

It may not fit 100% into this thread, but here's a quick suggestion regarding the terminology: most people associate "mono" with "one channel" and "stereo" with "two channels". I suppose it'd make things clearer (especially for new users of the plugins) if you used "mid" and "side" instead of "mono" and "stereo".

Hmmm, makes sense maybe, will add it to to-do.

In the mide side/mode, do we need to use any extra plugins to encode and decode to the mide/side format?

For example, I placed the Voxengo MSED plugin before (encode) and after (decode) the melda plugin. While my ears arent the best it does sound like a different mix to the normal stereo option which I prefer, or is it placebo lol

Am i doing this correctly?
sorry for the n00bish question

AFAIK the plugins do the encoding and decoding on their own, no need to put MSED before/after them.

No no, you don't need any other plugins of course. Just check the small button on the top normally containing L+R, and change it to say M to process mono content, L for changing just the left channel etc.
