cannot figure out simple velocity scale

Like I said I have tried assigning the OSC volumes and the volumes under the mod matrix to velocity and I just cannot get a simple velocity scale where the note gets louder with harder velocities. The closest I got was it working in reverse, but the when I flipped the mod buttong over the other way to invert the effect... it did nothing

Weird thing is I have got the hang of a lot of the rest of the synth (which is awesome) I just never really tried this basic function until now... and I just cannot do it...

Feel free to laugh, poke fun etc etc, but please show me how to do this basic thing...

thx a lot... I don't think I would have thought have looking there. Strange thing is I looked at every entry for "velocity" in the manual and did not find it... of course I probably just missed it, I am not a very good skim reader.
