Well, it's probably two different issues:
- installer quitting with exception (Innosetup problem)
- Midimap, Registration, Preset files not writable (permissions problem)
No matter if you turn UAC off or not, Windows is weary about C/Program Files/ or even C:/Users/Public/
I will post pre-installed versions later today so that the first problem is solved for good. The second problem should be solved by moving the data folder as described in the installation manual. Don't move it to anything "public" though as this is paradoxically as bad as other write protected areas.

Urs - Thought I would try again. No dice. I redownloaded the newest version of Zebra from the u-he site (version number appears to be the same as far as I could tell from your last post). Same exact problems as before... this time I attempted to put Zebra in plain 'old C:\ (root) inside a new folder I created called Zebra. Fails the install with the 'IPersist' error. Everything else fails exactly as I mentioned in my previous post.
I am no coder, but I still find this all odd since Tyrell works a-ok pointing to Tyrell data in Users\JoeUser\My Documents and installed just fine as well. I suspect Zebra must function differently.
Thanks again for your help and fyi.

Hi bitterkitten,
We've since uploaded "pre-installed" versions:
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra/Zebra252pre32.zip
http://www.u-he.com/downloads/Zebra/Zebra252pre64.zip
These work without installer. Just drag the .dll files and the resource directory into your Vstplugins folder, and maybe move Zebra2.data in your documents location.
Let me know if this helps,
Urs

Interesting. Are those preinstalled version linked from somewhere in the website?

Not yet. I did need a break from webdesign, site layout and writing all those blips and blops.mabian wrote:Interesting. Are those preinstalled version linked from somewhere in the website?

We post it whenever an installer problem comes up though - which is considerably rare. I have high hopes though that the guys who maintain Innosetup will eventually fix it.

Urs - yes, that totally 'fixed' it! I was able to manually put the files/folders in the exact same locations as the Tyrell plugin, and it worked fine. I only tested the 64bit version, but I assume it will work similarly for the 32bit folks.
Now I just need to upgrade my whole dang machine so my cpu doesn't get munched by full Zebra : )
Thanks.

Argh! Just my luck, I guess.
I finally had all the important stuff in 64 Bit in Logic and now I have to use Cubase, too and my most important EQ, Delay and Reverb (UHBIK) are only 32 Bit.
Urs, does this mean you'll have to go VST 3 for the 64 Bit Mac version?

Current versions should run fine in Logic 64 bit, as our Audio Units are universal binaries which contain a 64-bit-portionmedienhexer wrote:Argh! Just my luck, I guess.

For those who switched to 64bit versions of the plug in:
After switching, have you found any more differences? U-he plugs seem stable before, so I don't get the reasoning for 64bit... please?

They seem the same to me. I use them because I use a 64-bit host (Reaper x64). Native plugins don't require a bridge.re8 wrote:For those who switched to 64bit versions of the plug in:

Yes, I know. Everything is superb in AU64 land. I'm very happy when I work in Logic.Urs wrote:Current versions should run fine in Logic 64 bit, as our Audio Units are universal binaries which contain a 64-bit-portionmedienhexer wrote:Argh! Just my luck, I guess.

Just not on a Mac wanting VST64... Cubase 6 finally runs in 64 Bit on the Mac, too. Are you planning to support that?

Ah... sorry, I misread your post. I think the Cubase 64-bit bridge doesn't yet work on Lion.medienhexer wrote: Just not on a Mac wanting VST64... Cubase 6 finally runs in 64 Bit on the Mac, too. Are you planning to support that?
We will support VST3, but we need to get some projects to beta stage before we can dive into this.

No problem, Urs. It's just that I'm slowly but steadily getting to know and appreciate the Uhbiks as my go-to choice. Especially the Q is just plain out great. Cheers!Urs wrote:Ah... sorry, I misread your post. I think the Cubase 64-bit bridge doesn't yet work on Lion.medienhexer wrote: Just not on a Mac wanting VST64...
