hello people,

I have something in mind and I think I need your help. I want to be inspired by a particular sound from a track I absolutely love.

it's a track by "ovuca", the track is "Gas Bubbles". I haven't been able to find a youtube link for easy embeded stuff so I'm going to need an external link.

and you'll see a player in the upper right corner. the track is number 6. the sound I want to emulate is the first synth sound that you hear once the bubble-y rythms have started. it starts at about 30 seconds (about the 1/4 of the track)... it's some kind of filtered sound. gritty sound.

I find this sound pretty cool and I guess it's fairly easy to emulate with zebra. I think it's a pretty good starting point for something I have in mind. the sound is pretty great IMO, you can almost touch it.

to me, it's not really that complicated, I've done things that are pretty similar, but I'd love to know how you guys would do it.

I've listened to it, but can't really tell. It sounds like some "by hand" drawn waveform. May be two OSC's or some OSC-FX form Zebra. And lot of modulated lowpas filtering...

It'd really depend on what I'd heard while recreating the sound. Kinda tough to guess precisely without any feedback reference.

I presume it's a sampled sound. Not a sampled fart, of course

For me it sounds like as if you grab a blown up balloon.

this old stuff from ovuca is legendary but he was using hardware.
try to experiment with an interesting waveform and a filter with a high q (resonance),sounds like he was using two of them or more in serial,automate them,compress or limit them and add a reverb.
the single waveform probably would sound lame without automation.

and... to everyone else. I know this kind of sound strange, the "fart" sound. but it was more of an example as this album is pretty much filled with those kind of sounds. it's one of the things that make this album so important for me.

not that I have a fart fetish or whatever but yeah, I'm happy to finally have some serious help !

Don't underestimate the non-stop popularity of that sound! I wish i still had that flexidisc Mad magazine fart record that came out when i was a kid. I think it had to have been done way before SAMPLERS and given the cost of early synths if it wasn't somebody actually farting it probably was just somebody blowing air through their pressed lips into a mic and twiddling the FX

I'm unsure how to 100% make this sound. But I'd start with a single Oscillator, Saw waveform, LFO (Saw Downward - try half-note or quarter-note sync) on it's Pitch.. High Pass Filter with the same LFO on it's Cutoff... and go from there.

The filter cutoff being modulated throughout and there is also a reverb and delay on the sound
