Something like (gee I dunno) "U-he Ltd." perhaps?Urs wrote:Well, back then I thought it wouldn't be a much worse name than E-mu Systems![]()
Nevertheless, as long as I'm technically a simple one-person-business-with-employees I think I need to stick to my name. Should we however upgrade to a Ltd./GmbH, then I might feel inclined to pop a more catchy name over it.
Urs
Good plan! Continuity is way more important than "catchy", since you HAVE an established and credible reputation - IMHO.

I've never really thought about the company name that much before because of the company's firmly established reputation, but now that I do think about it, u-he is actually a pretty cool name.

It looks like "you-hee" to me.
Unless you're from Texas, then it's "yEE-Haw"
"bmrzychi" isn't they way the kids on the short bus say, "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Well, just thinking out loud!

Oh that's easy, it rhymes with SZCZEPAŃSKI.Esgalachoir wrote:Always wondered this myself.Krakatau wrote:BTW how to pronounce : bmrzycki ?
Growing up I heard all kinds of butchered pronunciations for my name:palebluedun wrote:"bmrzychi" isn't they way the kids on the short bus say, "Bohemian Rhapsody".
ritz-ski
ri-zick-ky
rhy-sick
roosky
r---, r-----, ry----, "How do you pronounce your name?"
and even suzuki (although this I think was being more than flippant)
I will say it helps me quickly determine when a telemarketer is calling me.
(For the record, it's pronounced "risky" in the USA and "zishski" in Poland. The B and M are my first and second initials. I should probably ask Ben to change my alias to bmr or brianr)

let say ZEBRA insn't a killer-synth name, but this humble vegetarian seems to be an hyperpredator ...and the WORKHORSE for many !thecontrolcentre wrote:I think it's a great company name. How about "WHAT THE HECKMANN"?
Standard response to fiddling with Zebra for 5 minutes.
I must be in the minority in that I found U-he both catchy and memorable, and it has a bit of a built-in pavlovian response these days after so many quality products.

A unique name for a unique company.
I guess the name's only downfall from a branding point of view is the ambiguity about pronunciation. But as has been said here, that doesn't matter anymore because everybody knows u-he (uh huh, you hee, you her, you aich ee, whatever) by its reputation.
Hey.. I still say that if a company with a clumsy name like "Twitter" can get this big, then u-he has nothing to worry about.

OTOH: what if the Google people had decided to call their company oh, I don't know, Bmrzycki instead?
