this is a challenge from a FB friend...that's all I have, it looks like my ESP/LTD but the hardware is not right and typically ESP puts the model number at the 12th fret. I'M, thinking schecter?

for reference, my esp/ltd

Huh, a suhr...never heard of that brand before just now, actually. Doesn't surprise me though...I usually tend to just glance over guitars that aren't Ibanez or Schecter. :hihi:

there's a pawn shop up the road that has a lot of schecters for some reason, who knows...one might come my way one day. My friend posted a clip of the guy who makes suhr playing and it was cool, but no different than anything I have here now.

Sorry I cut that pm short, had a great conversation though with Ross :)

I don't own any schecters yet, but I have played them and find them to be pretty damn nice. I just currently have Ibanez (though my electric-acoustic is a takamine jasmine).

the first music store I worked at was a small store and we sold Jasmines...my boss called me the jasmine king...I sold a ton of them by just putting a set of Bronze strings on one that I used as a demo :)

I like suhr always a bit pricey, I remember knofler and scott henderson playing them. For awhile there scecter was making knofler sig guitars based on his suhr version.

In regards to schecters I can recall not being to fond of them in the 80's although I was unaware of their PT model. Which sounds better then tele's I've owned.

My Suhr is special in a few ways:

1. It has the BPSSC for great humbucked single coil sounds

2. It has a blend knob for the neck and bridge pickups, which, IMO, is the single best electronics mod you can do to a strat

3. It's a strat that plays like a shredder

point 2. something I should do as it is an easy mod for sure but you know what (now think about this for a moment). I think another mod that could be further modded to be a blend is also very easy. That of course is the stereo guitar mod (which can be done without adding an extra jack hole on many guitars like a les paul just by removing one tone, having a master tone and putting the second jack there). The mod is under 10 dollars (a second jack and an spdt toggle)

After removing my pod xt live from my guitar chain (it's in my livingroom hooked up to a bose acoustic wave for jamming and exercise now :hihi: ) my radail aby box was no longer needed the same way in the chain. Naturally I use it with the 'M' and 'F' inputs on the Frenzel (which is awesome, I'm going to make an active version so I have leds). But then I realized that playing live with a stereo guitar and an ABY box you get a footswitch for your pick-ups but a blend pedal would be easy to make too.

However for recording if I record both pick-ups on their own track (3 guitars now are stereo so I am doing) I can have the blend control automated and I wont be playing live any time soon.

I would love a Suhr but once again I am afraid they cross that price barrier for me and if I am going to spend that much I do not want to have a guitar that if I hit hard times I might need to sell*. I also have no doubt that Warmoth necks are every bit as good so that might be the better way to go for me.

But those Suhrs are not Gibson and TBH they are very tempting so if I played one and fell in love with it I could see me getting one.

* I need to stop watching Daions on ebay because that gets tempting when I see them selling for 4 times what I paid...but I love the guitar too much :)

Yeah, for someone using dual rigs, an onboard blend knob would be fantastic! Damn, now you've got me thinking about it. ;)

As much as I love mine, my most played guitars are my (hibidy's) PRS SE, my Warmoth chambered body strat with Little 59's, and my super modded American Standard strat. All the high-end stuff (even my Ibanez Prestige) tend to spend most their time in their cases. :(
