A couple of days to go and it's looking like a low turnout for this month's contest.
Of course, that's good news for those who submit a patch - less competition = more chance of winning.

(Tempted to say yes, but for the sake of fairness it's probably best we stick with the written rules.)

Damn... wish I'd known about this. So what time *zone* is being used for submissions???
I have a really full schedule the next two days, but would enjoy some fiddling-with-purpose, as recreation.

The deadline for subs is down as Saturday 14:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, what used to be known as GMT).Shabdahbriah wrote: So what time *zone* is being used for submissions?

I think that: "used to be known as" part, is what has screwed up my sensors, as everything I have says "GMT"... never heard of "UTC", and probably will resist referring to it, as the parenthetical part (as stated above) does not match the acronym part, which is not good for a dyslexic.hakey wrote:The deadline for subs is down as Saturday 14:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, what used to be known as GMT).Shabdahbriah wrote: So what time *zone* is being used for submissions?

Yep, sense make not that does.Shabdahbriah wrote:never heard of "UTC", and probably will resist referring to it, as the parenthetical part (as stated above) does not match the acronym part.
Just looked up the explanation on WikiP:
The notation for Coordinated Universal Time is UTC. The International Telecommunication Union and the International Astronomical Union wanted Coordinated Universal Time to have the same notation in all languages. English and French speakers wanted the initials of both their respective language's terms to be used internationally: "CUT" for "coordinated universal time" and "TUC" for "temps universel coordonné". This resulted in the final compromise of "UTC", which conforms to the pattern for the notations of the variants of Universal Time
So there you go...

Arg! I totally forgot about this. I hope I can have my patch ready on time! The sketch is there, just needs some polishing. This is gonna be a weird one.

I seriously think we should push back the deadline by 1 week. We have 4 patches and 3 participants. Unless I get a literal flood of them tonight I can't see it happening tomorrow.
Besides, I've been so busy with work I haven't had a chance to do the back-end setup of stuff (blush).

Hey, it's only thursday ... and didn't Dennis Bronto Scorpio say he was doing one and some others too further back in this thread? ... but that would be pretty amusing if it really was just 3 participants and we all had to cast at least 3 votes — in that case, since each contributor can't vote for their own, they would necessarily have to vote twice for one of the other contestant's patches
