i want to choose one for hybrid sounds but not sure which one i should focus on to get those powerful modern sounds. tyrell is obviously the most powerful, but it uses too much processing power.

Well, the cheapest route would be get the free lette version, buy a 2nd hand CM DVD here at the marketplace to get ZebraCM.
I used to use zebracm for fat basses.

Depends on what you want. lette has no filters other than the FX one. CM has the older 2.3 filter algs. -lette has full control over the oscillator waveforms. CM has 2 OSCS but pre-drawn OSC waves. They're different and it's hard to say in all cases which one is more powerful.

Zebralette probably covers more ground. I'm thinking oscillator effects, custom morphable wavetables, superwaves and clusters, additive, drawable waveforms, etc... It's like an alternate universe where synthesis evolved without the ubiquity of the resonant filter. So many other ways to go from bright to dark sounds.

because i prefer the minimum number of synths and the maximum number of effectspdxindy wrote:For the cost, why not use both?

I'd say that Zebralette is the more versatile synth, but CM will get you what you want faster. Really though.. they're both available.. just use them both. 2 u-he synths certainly doesn't exceed the limits of "minimum number of synths"

I like ZebraCM better for the reason of it having filters, and an extra osc.
It can't draw waveforms, but you can alter them quite a lot with various techniques.
Get em both though.
You should really get a copy of CM magazine anyway.
They have some good stuff on the disk.
