Imho you should first have bought the plug-in because you were thinking it was (and it still is) the right thing to do. Not because you were afraid of being caught using a warez version.

The fact your friends don't buy their plug-ins doesn't make them right doing it just because no police knocks at their door for warez usage.
That applies for every "crime", offense etc, it's not ok to rape a girl if you're sure you won't get caught, just as it's wrong to rob a bank fr the same reasons.
I even think all crimes etc happen because the authors mostly believe they won't get caught anytime.

I know many people making money from music and using 100% warez stuff, though these are the same persons that complain against people downloading their albums without paying for them. That's how far human cupidity can go...
I always believed I do it "the right way" eventhough it seemd like wasteful madness to others.
That should be your only motive, and should be your own pay off.

Stop caring about what the others think. You will understand that people think what they think for their own good, not for some kind of universal truth, even though they claim their thoughts to be some the universal truth.

I mean, u ppl already said that you can register Sylenth1 even if you mod it for the new interface...
You might be able to register Sylenth1 despite the modification, but again, from a legal standpoint this is not allowed.

You're right. It's still right thing to do, pay for it. Sorry, it was just my feeling. I don't wanna make it to the top, these abtitions faded away already trough the time. I mean It's be nice, but I'm not good enough so....

It just kinda reminded me all these little jokes, all this ununderstandment, all this money at once. It just makes you feel that they was right even if you know it's not morally good opinion to have...

Yes you're right, someone posted a transcript of the eula (?) that says it so.

Anyway, changing the skin is doing harm to no one methinks...

Yeah, sad truth...
The Chubu wrote:Still, its a matter of thinking, do you strive for beign good? Or for beign in the top? A lot of good ppl dont make it to the top and a lot of ppl in the top arent good ppl.
Not now. But back then I had the ambition, yes. Like any other 16 years old tot with DAW... It disapeared trough years while fiddling with few plugins I bought for heavy money. I'm not so idealistic to think it would be different if I've bought DJ decks for the SW money, but it still feels really wierd now...
The Chubu wrote:If you think you're on your way, then you shouldnt feel stupid at all i think. The only one that can make your desitions "pay off" after all its you, god isnt going to come down and give you a pat in the back, its you that must feel good while doing what you decided. You dont "validate" yourself and your desitions through others and their desitions, it never works like that.
Again, right, but if for whole puberty friends tell you: "Screw it, nobody's gonna ask anyway..." than this "But I want developers to be rewarded!" always seemd like really weak argument when thinking about things I refused for it...

And now Avicii suddenly proves their point. It is bad, I know, but it's really upseting... :/

How about selling those unreasonable priced plugin which you though so then? I'm also thinking there are not only plugins which are worth buying, but also no worthy plugin for its cost. (e.g. Analog modeling effects, some of NI's products and etc.) My policy is that I don't waste money on them. Hyped pruducts always suck.To tell the truth you don't need so much effects and synths to compose. All plugins' capabilities are quite overlapping with each other. Less is more.

Sell them, gather money and buy hardware what you are interested in! Concern will be solved?

p.s.
Don't try to steal 'hardwares' from the store.

I purchased every single one of the plugins I use and have spent thousands over the years. Only recently have I released my first track and it's only sold a handful of copies, but I'm happy that everything I've done is legal.

My son, who's 11, is constantly asking me for software and keeps telling me "you can download this for free", but I never do it for him. He keeps asking me for Sony Vegas Pro, despite me telling him it costs around £300. I've bought him a copy of a cut-down version of Sony Vegas from Play.com (reduced from around £80 to £30) for Christmas - he doesn't need the full version and I'm determined to try and keep him on the right path.

The developers of soft-synths have a very limited market compared to some types of software, so they need to be supported.

Yep. The perceived value of my purchased synthesizers is absolutely enormous, compared to anything I might have 'tested' over the years. Cracked stuff is basically just demos without a limitation but they never had much value to me to be honest. Some people can use cracked stuff. Maybe they just don't see the value.

Love the synth. Demo'ed it by recommendation of a long-time user and inspired at least two other folks to buy it as well.
Will mix for fun

Its not my business but im starting to think that the issue here is not morality but how you feel about your friends or something.

Nah, it only probes that no one's a saint.

As i said, you shouldnt look for validation of your actions through the actions of others. That only leads to frustration. Better to look that OTHERs validate their actions through YOUR actions! "I got dem btches at my feet! " :D :P

Still, you should make what you think is right, what makes you feel good. I do think that not doing it from the fear of beign caught it may be what got you here.

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, and suffering leads to the dark side! Or to pirating VSTs, whatever comes first.

Anyway, have a read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buyer's_remorse

At the end, is not a matter of morality, its just how we feel about it. If you feel good knowing that you bought your stuff, at some point you did, then you shouldnt worry about it, just keep doing what you think is good for you...

Don't sweat this pirate even if he's famous.

Buy plugins to support the developers.
Buy plugins to generate no negative karma.

If you are feeling particularly vindictive pirate this guys music and write him telling him why.

FWIW: Tims (Avicii) manager informs me that he does have licenses for all the plugins seen in the video.

Why cant Tim tell us himself? Why is the manager the messenger boy? It seems he doesn't care.

We all know the default gui is fugly and presents an outdated preset management system.

That's not an excuse to use a warez or illegally modified version.

And very bad practise as an established artist to display this behaviour in public..

Lennard should send him or FM a letter.
