Any theories as to why there is such disparity between the number of plays for each submission? Could it be that people are influenced by early reviews and only listening to songs already mentioned in others' favorites? Or does the play counter only increment after N seconds of play, and some are just being aborted before completion?

Granted, it's a lot of listening to give them all a proper audition, but I'd feel cheated if my entry had only been heard by half as many people as the others.

Interesting point. I think the disparity is due to:
- number of followers on soundcloud
- early submissions (

)
- as you pointed out, the play counter increments just after you click on play button

Regarding the first reason, remember that not all the followers on soundcloud are entitled to vote, thanks to the contest rules ( "> 20 proper posts on kvr forum" or "osc participant").

I don't know if there's a way to grant an equal (or similiar) number of listenings... maybe a system to shuffle the entry list, or to make the entries visible only after a time limit.

If not, you should have at least 20 posts (all over the forums) to make valids your votes. So if you want to make these votes as valids, you should flood some posts in KVR before the deadline.

As always, a very tough call. It took a couple hours to weed it down to the best of the best, and there were some very close calls along the way.

We had quite a few entries this time, and it takes a bit to wade through them all. And I notice a lot of folks haven't voted yet. Maybe it's more time than people want to spend.

Would the group want to consider limiting future challenges to just one entry per person to help reduce the quantity?

Guys/Girl(s) this was GREAT, although time consuming.
Let's make a deal, the next time we have about 40 tracks,
let's say about 30 of them are complete sh*t.
Not like this time, 'cause after first listening, there was not a single track I didn't like

.
The sounds you were able to get from this synth are AMAZING.
Before I started listening I thought: "40 tracks, this feels like homework, this can't be fun?"

But how wrong was I ?!.

I had 21 tracks in my playlist for a long time, but finally had to bite the bullit, so...

Now for the most difficult part :

Akson - Free Canned Sardines.. 5 Points
JoeCat - Chasing Mrs. Peel....... 4 Points
Bzur - Drunk Zebra.................. 3 Points
IrionDaRonin - B.E.C................ 2 Points
DocJon - Iona Sunrise.............. 1 Point.

...all for different reasons: feel, rythm, sounds, melody (or lack theroff), etc... hard to explain.
