I don't know about "as good", but I know it doesn't sound like the real deal.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Gyraf do a great clone/just as good as the real deal.

GSSL is an interpretation of the SSL G-4000 series bus compressor. It takes several important shortcuts compared to the original and doesn't quite sound like it (I won't partake in the better or worse debate). It can be modified to be just about an exact clone, but it's not trivial. If someone is skilled enough to do that, chances are they wouldn't care about some SSL clone in the first place.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:Gyraf do a great clone/just as good as the real deal.

Yes, bought it since the upgrade was cheap for me (already owned the compressor) .. The eq sounds very very smooth even with large boosts or cuts, I kind of can't even 'hear' the eq if that makes any sensecyphersuit wrote:anybody tried the new channel plugin?
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

this is like, kind of a turn off for me, really. well, i guess, i will save this money towards buying the waves ssl bundle. many people swear on it.penguinfromdeep wrote: It takes quite a bit of cpu when both eq and compressor are engaged but the sound is definitely worth it.

The Grand Channel uses almost 6.0% of CPU here @96kHz/512 buffer size. Now, if I use each plug-in separately, which is exactly the same, they both use almost 3.8%. It's very low on CPU in my opinion.cyphersuit wrote:this is like, kind of a turn off for me, really. well, i guess, i will save this money towards buying the waves ssl bundle. many people swear on it.penguinfromdeep wrote: It takes quite a bit of cpu when both eq and compressor are engaged but the sound is definitely worth it.

can you compare for example mixcontrol pro and waves ssl strip to the 6% the grand channel uses? that would be tops.
