Hi,
I am soon going to be the lucky owner of a Receptor Rev C that I purchased for a great price used on ebay. The front panel suggests it is a receptor 2+ but the outer housing appears to be blue and not black like the latest versions look on the muse site. I am pretty certain it will do the things I want it to do as I have done significant research about these but I was curious about some of the detailed specs, compared to the latest iteration of these. I do know it has the AMD Turion 64 so I know it's the low end receptor but my needs are to run mostly horn voices and layers of such with an AKAI EWI4000s. I already run Sample Modeling Trumpet and Sax Brothers on my mac along with sample tank. This should be adequate to handle these, am I correct?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

The original Receptor 2s (before the +/Pro lines) had the deep blue front panel, is that what you are describing? Depending on the age (from 2009/ or made after 2009) you'll have an AMD 1640 or AMD 240E in the unit. Either should be ok to run the sample modeling stuff, you just need to make sure it's a Receptor 2 software wize (that is the OS with changes that make running the newer Kontakt libraries possible).

It was listed as Rev C. Not sure what that means in terms of the OS version and I am curious if that is a big deal to upgrade? Thanks,

The Rev. C uses the 1.7 software. That means it will unfortunately not support the Sample Modeling libraries. IK Multimedia stuff runs great, though!

So can the OS software be upgraded? or does one have to go through the whole hardware process?

The picture of the unit has Receptor 2+ on the faceplate and on the back it says MR2 painted or marked over the serial number and the ser# card makes reference to receptor 2. I guess I will have to wait and see what it is I have to be certain.

Unfortunately no. OS 1.7 is the latest OS a rev c can use.

That's OK the seller and I have worked out a different arrangement on a 2+ so I will be good to go :hihi:

As I said in my previous message I worked out a deal for a Receptor 2+ and have had it for a little under a week now and had limited time to work with it. I do have the Kontakt 3.5 player and sample modeling instruments on board and up and running. I had to adjust down to under 96000 resolution to ease up on the CPU load but I am really pleased with what it is doing and the added option it gives me of running the analog synth in the EWI into the guitar input so I can mix and mute that signal as desired. As my budget improves I will be able to open up a couple of the other licenses I have for sample modeling and some other plugins. At any rate I see the potential to make my setups for performances much better and more effective. Thanks for a great product!

Now the real work begins.

Take care,

Already got that taken care of. They had to de-register it from the previous owner.
