I've just run mdynamiceq_5_03_setup.exe (on Windows XP) and selected the folders for my data files and the VST (I removed the trailing MeldaProduction" from the latter). I know nothing about VST3 so entered a non-existent folder name (as the hint indicated that it then would not be installed).

After installation the first two were OK but, for VST3, the new folder had been created and the VST3 file installed.

Oh well, I said, I'll uninstall and try again.

The uninstaller (run from Add/Remove programs) did not remove the file from my data file folder.

Q1: Can I delete those files / folders manually to tidy up?
Q2: is it better for the data files to be outside the Program Files folder?

As it looks like the VST3 file will be installed:
Q3: where should I put it?
Q4: can I have other sub-folders in the C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3/ folder?
Q5: does it have to be that root folder for VST3 files? (or is that just what Steinberg say?)

What folder locations should I choose on Windows 7?

The VST3 folder is predefined, so you should keep it default. In fact, it is rarely a good idea to configure anything in the installer, but some people just want their own (pseudo)system :).

Anyway please go on and remove the files manually. Then when you install it I really don't see any reason to change anything unless you have a very good reason to do that.

Edit: VST3 recognizes subfolders, so it's fine.
