fair enough, fellas, but being able to do patterns already on a timeline that can be duplicated in the "drag to the right" fashion and the only way to do that in mature software is to use a "D" key or whatever to do that? I just find that passe. At minimal, you should be able to do it in both ways if you so choose esp. when the market is this chock full of hosts that they need to market to both linear and pattern-based artists. To be honest, I just find it clunky at best esp. when working with a bunch of big and small MIDI loops on different tracks.

I had no problem today when I bought, downloaded and installed from their website. An very plesant experience :)

It sounds like it's not a server issue then. I've emailed them anyway. :)

There is an extreme difference in workflow between the two, and tons of people do think that S1 V2 is more than worth the price. But no host is for everyone.
yep..I do agree with you on that. thankfully we have plenty to choose from.
Not sure why that is happening as it's very snappy for me and most other people. Different systems react differently with different software, but know that this is not something that everyone is experiencing. Honestly, it's never been an issue that has caused a stir at all.
I do my stuff on a Thinkpad T400, so it's not "that" old and Reaper and Live 7 run fairly snappy on it esp. Reaper which even opens in a second. Not to say S1 is bogging down....it's just not as quick to respond to on-screen actions when I click on things quickly. At least that's what I'm experiencing on the T400.
Again, it's down to the person. You seem to think it's not worth it. Great. Use Reaper and move on. It's a great host. But for many people, Studio One is a fantastic value, and the V2 update is as big as any other host does for major updates, and bigger than many. And let's not forget that it's only been around for TWO YEARS, and it already has plenty of pro level features along with a fantastic workflow not found elsewhere. Is this worth it to everyone? Nope. It seems to not fit you, which is just fine. But I'm getting the impression that maybe you haven't REALLY looked at all the new features in detail yet. Maybe I'm wrong.
I've only had it as long as you've had Keys...2 days, so that's my initial impression for whatever it's worth. I believe the demo is 30 days, so I'll leave it on the lappy for now and will keep messing about with it for sure to see if it gives me any love. It'll be interesting to see how it all fairs, though, once all the dust settles from the excitement of a new version.
Yeah, I would imagine so since it was later in the day for them since they live in Germany. And they have been working frantically to put out a great product, and they have succeeded. Being tired doesn't mean anything.

FWIW, Presonus has already updated hotfixes and updates since V2 came out. They do work pretty fast, and they add plenty of features during the lifespan of a version(they added tons of things during the V1 lifetime).

I hope you find the host that works for you. It seems that Reaper does. Studio One won't be for everyone, but I encourage you to look deeper at some things as there is so much more there than you seem to be thinking. It's a completely fully capable host that can hold it's own in the market, and it's one that is gaining ground every day. But if it's not for you, then it's not for you. Really simple!

Brent :)
glad to hear they've already issued an update(s)...i wonder if the demoes will get updated as well....or if the "hotfixes" you mentioned will work on the demo version; will check it out shortly.

Anyway, no worries here....I have long found 2 hosts that work for me...Live and Reaper, Live being my Main host by miles, so like everyone else around here...I'm giving S1 a go as well and see if it jives with me. So using Live for electronic and a little linear stuff and Reaper for all other things, I thought this was going to be a super wow update esp. since I had read in their forums about folks begging them for pattern-based stuff ever since and to help give them a reason to leave Live and the others, but obviously that's not on their priority list.

But you're right...if you're digging it, then obviously it's worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. 8)

Finally got round to checking out the demo. First gripe WHAT NO FULLSCREEN (F11)OPTION!!!. OK minor as it is I like to fill the screen, can do it with Live & Reaper.

I've only been using it briefly but after changing a few setting in advanced options (luckily I remembered from using Artist before) to get S1 v2 working with my komplete Audio 6, its pretty snappy & I'm not having the sluggishness as reported by woodie. Gonna have another mess with S1 later.

woodie is right about how handy dragging to loop is, this can be done in Live & Reaper & its much easier to work with than the old style D duplication (which you can also do in Live & Reaper) just drag to where you want the loop to end..job done.

All fair enough. I will say that it is still a wow update to many. The problem is that there are many workflows. Sure, they could have put in pattern-based editing, but then people would complain about no groove quantize, or no folder tracks, or whatever would have been left out. It's possible that they may not want to put pattern based editing in. I don't know.

I really would give it some time. There are lots of little features in addition to the bigger ones!

One thing to remember though. Studio One is not, and likely never will be like Live. On the other hand, it will not likely ever be like Reaper in most ways. It has it's own workflow that is, IMO, second to none. YMMV, of course. But for how I work, I've loved S2 since I started using it(maybe more than a couple of days  ), which is why I say it's worth giving some more time to. But if you decide it's not for you, then absolutely no harm done and anyone who says you made the wrong decision doesn't have their head on straight.

Good luck regardless!

Yes. I did. My payment status is "unprocessed" for nearly two days now. Nice to know I am not alone.

Same here, I bought the full S1 v1 Pro (for upgrade to v2) 2 days ago.
Still no serial from audiomidi.com so far, but credit card is not charged yet so I have patience (gooosefrabaaa ).

Same here, though I payed paypal and it went through, just no serial yet. Hope it turns up soon.

I wanted to do the same thing. Upgrade to s1 pro v1 then to s1 v2 professional but I emailed audiomidi first if this still valid. I got the answer: "I just found out that we can't get a hold of the serials anymore, since they've announced the new version."
