Hi!

If there is a way to emulate so called free run (or trigger) envelope mode, when sustain phase is bypassed and envelope moves directly from decay to release and the length of the note is independent of how long the key is held. (Mainly this envelope mode is used for percussive sounds).

Thank you!

Not yet. But if you explain it to me I'm all ears :)

It's a thing I always wanted to request but it felt stupid since almost no synth has it.

It's called "One-Shot mode" on some synths. It should basically turn the ENV into a AD ENV. It would always sound the same regardless of how long you hold a note. This is incredibly useful for percussion sounds.

You can get similar results if you just set the decay and release to the same time and the sutain to 0. But this doesn't work 100%, especially if the attack time isn't 0.
But with this method the note will still be a bit longer if you hold the note a little bit to short since the decay hasen't reached 0 until the end of the note.

A hope this makes at least a bit of sense :hihi:
Just check out the one shot mode of the ENVs of Massive if you have it.

I guess this is already possible with the MSEGs but it would be awesome to have it on the normal ENVs too in all U-He products :)

This is an envelope mode which allows the length and contour of the sound to be the same (set by Attack, Decay and Release stages) regardless of how fast you release the note or how long the note is held down.

After searching the forum for 'one-shot' I have found an similar thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=230929

Just a hack ... try an envelope with 0 decay, full sustain, and F/R (sustain fall/rise) at -50, and release at 50. I believe this is one-shot timing(?), and I bet there could be some x/y mapping for easy tweaking with the F/R and release times on one knob. Would sit and figure it out right now but short on time

Don't know if I full understand!? .. but this can be done with a MSEG, right?

Post

OMG! I just found out how to fix the MSEG "bug" :dog:

Got to switch it from "quarters" to " seconds" so that it will stay the same once the tempo is modified.

All that precise work ruined  .. I gotta pay more attention. :D
Darn it!... :?

Great idea! I'll try that! Thanks :)

Just tried this! Very interesting, thanks for the tip! :)

Might as well set Sustain to zero and Decay / Release to the same value, because it's simpler. However, the Attack will always end as soon as a note is released - we don't have one-shot envelopes yet.
