Great stuff, thanks for letting me know. Enjoy Cumulus!

please PLEASE compile one for OSX 10.4 and PPC :) even a beta / experimental build ! it should work :) and some of us still use that machines live.

Post

It should already run on Mac OS X 10.4 and PPC - all our other plug-ins work on that platform, and Cumulus should be no different...

EDIT: Yes, I've just partially checked this - the released Cumulus universal binary definitely comes with native PPC support. Let me know if it doesn't work on your 10.4 platform, and if so I'll dust our old 10.4 test Mac out of hibernation and look into it.

Same here, picked up a copy of CM171 yesterday and it seems to work fine in Qtractor too. This plug-in is amazing, thanks! Apparently the plug-in doesn't react to JACK transport messages in Qtractor, it does sync in Renoise though.

Best,

Hey! Thanks for this fantastic plugin. I'm also in for a paid pro version.

I have just one quick question. Is there a way to link the playback of the individual grains to their according scene markers in realtime? When the speed is set to "0,00%" and the decay to "off", i would like to move the resulting drone across the sample with my mouse to find the magic spots. Now I must constantly restart the playback via MIDI after moving the scene marker to a new position.

In Granite from new sonic arts this is possible and for me it's the only feature missing in Cumulus.

JACK Transport messages: added to the ever increasing to-do list! A big update of all the JACK code has long been overdue anyway (across all our plug-ins), so this'll fit nicely into that.

Cool. Just have to find a copy now.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

@Jeeez - So basically you wanted to be able to 'scrub' a marker across the sample? You can't currently do that, but it's probably quite an easy feature to implement ('Follow Marker' option per Scene?). Consider that also added to the to-do list.

@CPB: Scrubbing in realtime or near realtime via a 'Follow Marker' option per scene is exactly what I mean. It would make such a huge difference. Thank you!

Wow, that would be awesome. But I'm already very happy that I don't have to resort to external editors to do this kind of stuff (like Smasher) and a HUGE bonus is that with Cumulus it is easy to load and play samples, which no other DSSI, LV2, LADSPA or LinuxVST is capable of (yeah, DiscoDSP's HighLife sampler, but that one's got serious issues).

Best,

Unfortunately Cumulus is not working properly on my main machine, both the plug-in and the standalone application. The plug-in locks up Qtractor and then my whole machine. No way to reboot, Alt+SysRQ + K doesn't work, neither Alt + SysRQ + B, only a hard reset helps.
The standalone application works for like 30 seconds. Then it zombifies and since its parent is init I can't kill it so I have to reboot to get rid of it. This is on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.

Oh, that's not so good! I can't think of any obvious reason why it would lock after 30 seconds. If you run the standalone via terminal, do you get any tracing on the console before lock up occurs? Does it make any difference what audio system (ALSA vs JACK) you are using?

Hi CPB. I think it's another application that gets in the way so I have to figure that out first. When I run just the standalone Cumulus instance (JACK) everything seems ok. The Cumulus LinuxVST quickly locks up Qtractor but I'll bug the dev about it too, there are more Juce-based plug-ins with which Qtractor has some difficulties (like the Togu Audio Line ones).

Thanks!

Hmmm, in a non-Gnome environment Qtractor + Cumulus seem to work well. Even better, got JACK transport to work so I can use Cumulus in sync with Qtractor which is awesome. I'm planning on ditching Gnome anyway, it's starting to get in my way when making music.
