Just a bit of fun. If you could commission your dream project for u-he to work on (and presuming they had the time to make it!), what would you ask them to make?

Personally, I'd love to see a SID emulation synth with the u-he tag, with lots of attention on that grimey filter and the oscillator quirks. Perhaps an expanded feature set, too. I'd also love it if they developed a model of the 303's filter, for use in their existing synths (Zebra!).

All very boring and predictable answers from me, but I can't deny the truth of them :)

Keep adding to Zebra so it can create any sound in the universe. It's nearly there already! ;)

I must say, it's quickly become my favorite synth of all time.

Dunno... tuff question.

But I guess I'll stick to: "Get them to make me a personalized version of Zebra" for the moment, cause I'm dying for some extra modules, modulation sources and couple of more tweaks! :D

I would hire them to make Sylenth 2

Really hard question.
Every addition to Zebra is always welcome. An U-He sampler would be awesome too.
But what would be really nice would be a Kore replacement!
It was such a great concept! I'd love to have some kind of U-He Überplugin which can host all U-He plugins (or even 3rd party plugins).
I wouldn't need most of the features Kore had but a SINGLE preset browser for all U-He plugins would be amazing. I made many, many, MANY presets for most U-he plugins and such a preset browser would be a HUGE workflow improvement :)

But I guess in this universe I'd like o see updates for Zebra :)
New modules, a reworked GUI etc. :)

Cheers

I like the idea of a super synth, uberplugin. I think of Geist as kind of an awsome -drum-daw within my daw. A synth-daw would have to come from u-he. I guess just adding a self contained patterns/midi section to Zebra would achieve that.

A u-he optimized midi controller would be great too. Instant mappings to key controls, which vary based on what is loaded, visual feedback as those mapping change, with plenty of knob and sliders.

I would hire them to make the ultimate circuit modeled (not ANY short cuts, preferably modeled on quantum level or something), gigantically oversampled, indistinguishable from the real deal analog modeled softsynth ... Oh wait, they're kinda doing that already with Diva! Well, maybe I would hire them to do similar thing but with effects, like compressors, eqs, and so on.
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

I would hire them to upgrade the London tube network, and to include air-conditioners in the trains and stations.

"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Serious:

An outboard waveset designing utility for Zebra.

An additive synth.

Slightly less so:

A purely sample based Solina.

An emulation of a Maxikorg 800dv cross-bred with a CS30 and an Oscar. :P

Something on the order of the Yamaha Fs1r and beyond. Pure FM with a few more options (think recursive synthesis) that would leave the hardware and analog world far behind yet simple in interface like Zebra. :-o

It would probably keep Urs busy for two-- three months. :hihi:

+1 :tu:
Or at least some improvements in that department. It can be a pita to draw waves at the moment. A complete wave draw/generate/convert tool would be awesome of course! :)

Not that thread again :hihi:

The Zebra of step sequencers.

I'd love to see something like an Uhbik effects rack... something that would integrate all the Uhbiks, with a few new ones added into the bargain.

Oh... wait..... :D

I would also like Urs to put his know-how of circuits into making a tape emulation that would be the end of all other tape emus around. Urs probably should spend a year or so doing some research but it would be worth it
