Looking forwards to Zebra 2.6

If I were able to pay them to do whatever I want, I'd just let them do what they do. U-he seem to know what I want more than I do.

U-He sampler with the same power of Kontakt but easier to use?
Would become the new industry standard overnight.

I'm pay him to make a Uhbik that would act as a modular container for the other Uhbiks. It would be so awesome... :clown:

MachFive3 is already quite similar to that... it's a lot easier to use than Kontakt, and doesn't crash if you do some stupid things like Kontakt can (especially with scripting)...

It most definitely wouldn't become a new "industry standard", especially not overnight. Kontakt is widely rooted in the world of all major composers, and it's not going anywhere soon. Don't forget the awesomely major 3rd party library vendor support that Kontakt has. MachFive doesn't have it yet, but if it gets it, it could be a good competition to Kontakt one day. But currently, not much.

It still looks helluva fun and easy to use. It's on my to-purchase list.

The way I see it, Kontakt is industry standard because it had no serious competition out there and offered AKAI import. Gigasampler was groundbreaking but way too clunky and CPU hungry to an unusable level when I tried it in early versions and never gave it a chance again.

This opened the door for musicians who wanted to switch from hardware samplers and to keep existing libraries, which were mainly AKAI format back then.

Now that transformation from hardware to software is history, things to improve are clearly usability. Kontakt took it a step further offering complex scripting and encrypted libraries which content creators love to protect their IP.

Although I don't mind Kontakt, it can be fiddly click-madness to set it up.
A sampler with the power of Kontakt but *easy* to use has to be a winner, no doubt about that.

Then check out MachFive 3 for the time being... You might be surprised.

I'm still waiting on that U-He pizza.

I had a look at it and read some comments on various boards about MOTU and previous buggy versions of Mach5 that were never addressed since 2007. V3 looks great though. Might download the demo and give it a good run.

Another reason why a U-He sampler would be a hit: You could trust U-He to listen to his customers and fix bugs.

That's a slight problem, perhaps, though. There's no demo of it. Plus it's a dongled product. However I'm getting some real positive comments from a fellow Kontakt scripter, so that's very encouraging.
