Damn those lame mtv musicians, miming to backing tracks with their keytars!izonin wrote:Classical, jazz. Software is a means for less wealthy people to get into making music(their own definition of music), Compare a Fairlight to Kontakt, Kontakt is leaps and bounds ahead of that old hardware, for those that like electronic music software plugins are a god send, we don't all want to own original hardware analogues from the 80's, we want to be able to have midi and intergration with our set-ups, yes we may lust after the real analogue sound but it's a compromise, I cannot afford a modern midi compatible analogue synth(like the Prophet 08), so soft and hardware VA's is the way for me at the minute.izonin wrote:Ok, Arturia are definitely paying those artists for the nice comments.breakmixer wrote:Hmmm, Herbie Hancock - Sure I saw him on Arturia's website the other daw, or maybe he isn't a real musician - that's why he was there...izonin wrote:Classical, jazz. In the analog vs. soft debate, their synths are the absolute proof that software sucks.
So Julliard and Mills are out then.izonin wrote:actual = people who studied at Berklee. Or taught there. This kind of musicians.whyterabbyt wrote:Can we see the original statistical analysis then?izonin wrote:It is a definition very popular with actual musicians.

I think we're already on the levelling off of a sigmoidal growth curve in terms of how close the latest emulations are to the real thing.osiris wrote:if you started out like me playing with the Neon, Atom, and the Tau bassline, you'd be amazed every time you hear a modern VST spit out some noise.
Can't wait to hear what's to come.
its just becoming a smaller and smaller subset of reality as you go on isnt it?izonin wrote:actual = people who studied at Berklee. Or taught there. Second sentence contradicts the first (wobble bass/good music).tetsuneko wrote:This is the age of wobble bass, the sound of softsynths. Forget about mimicing the past and just focus on making good music.
I'm not against software. But people are fooling themselves, if they think that there is no difference in the sound. Analogues have a different (IMO better) sound.breakmixer wrote:Software is a means for less wealthy people to get into making music(their own definition of music), Compare a Fairlight to Kontakt, Kontakt is leaps and bounds ahead of that old hardware, for those that like electronic music software plugins are a god send, we don't all want to own original hardware analogues from the 80's, we want to be able to have midi and intergration with our set-ups, yes we may lust after the real analogue sound but it's a compromise, I cannot afford a modern midi compatible analogue synth(like the Prophet 08), so soft and hardware VA's is the way for me at the minute.izonin wrote:Ok, Arturia are definitely paying those artists for the nice comments.breakmixer wrote:Hmmm, Herbie Hancock - Sure I saw him on Arturia's website the other daw, or maybe he isn't a real musician - that's why he was there...izonin wrote:Classical, jazz. For those with little or no money the freeware is a god send for learning music making and a good starting block. Don't be a snob!
Also your slating software on a plugins forum, your not going to win!
