This thread is fun, can i join in?
Same old digital vs analog. I don't care what people use, most of my favourite producer use digital and i like that digital sound. And yes, i think anyone trying to emulate older hardware have not done a really good job right now. But it might change in the future.

You do have a way with words "Whyte"...whyterabbyt wrote:its certainly inconsistent with any notion of 'real music by actual musicians' outside the imagination of anyone without an unnatural fondness for 1960's state-sponsored lithuanian toilet-cleaner advertisements.izonin wrote: It's not inconsistent.

How about a unique emulation then? Unique, as in, it sounds better than the originals it was modelled after?izonin wrote:Thank you. Trying to emulate analogues is just the wrong thing to do at the moment. It's much better to create something unique, like you did.Urs wrote:I agree. Just for the record, I use my Selmer as a bow on my PRS and I do that anecdotally too.

Having a contrary opinion isn't trolling. It might be disagreeably stated, and you (and I, for that matter) might consider the evidence wanting and the reasoning faulty, but if the poster really holds the opinion and isn't just trying to wind people up for the "fun" of watching the fight, I wouldn't call it trolling.PAK wrote:Well, despite the fact the last 7 pages have mostly been people replying to Izonin's trolling nonsense, I'll reply.
A troll just wants reactions, positive or -- far better -- negative, to keep the pot boiling. I don't think izonin is trolling. Most of what he said was wrong IMO, but that's not the same thing. I figure he really does believe what he's saying. *shrug* To me it doesn't seem worth disputing past a post or two but maybe I'm weird that way (can't eat popcorn any longer).

I know that the algorithms are there. But I doubt it could run on current CPUs.Urs wrote:How about a unique emulation then? But that would be a bad emulation then again wouldn't it?Urs wrote:How about a unique emulation then? Unique, as in, it sounds better than the originals it was modelled after?izonin wrote:Thank you. I'm trolling a bit, actually. I'm just curious to find how many people can't hear the difference.Meffy wrote:Having a contrary opinion isn't trolling. great. just for orthogonality, as long as you call it by my preferred special-use adjective (ie 'shite') you're welcome to keep making all the banal jazz/classical crap you want
