Hello,

i still wonder about a thing that bugs me..

lets say i got a bass preset i adjusted with almost zero release in order to play it as a 1/16 note..

what i want is that the bass still plays when i lets say write a whole note or two whole notes..

now when i play the bass it stops immediatly when the envelope is thrue..

hope that makes sense :D

cheers :D

turn up sustain?

Or you could use Gate instead of an envelope if you want instant attack and release. It will hold the note for as long as you hold the key ( or for the whole length of a drawn note in a sequencer).

no doesn't work, cause the release takes it down..

hm, if i change from env to gate nothing really changes..where can i adjust the gate or do i need to do something in addition?

Maybe there's an envelope closing a filter somewhere in the patch?
Or maybe I'm just misunderstanding.

Same here. Maybe post a patch Zork?

yeah question is a bit confusing mate ... post the patch so we can see what you mean.

Usually if you have release v low but sustain up full, the note will play as long as you hold the key.. a 16th note or even a bar but end as soon as you let go. Let's have a look at the patch and see if we can't figure it :)

Here is the patch..

its like Neverone said...the env is closing the filter, but i need an envelope on the filter to get that sound, or is there another way to achieve it..?

if i just open the filter it doesnt sound as tight to me..

thx

Hi,

Adjust cutoff, env 2 decay / release, and maybe env 1 sustain higher.

if you want bass to continue on for longer notes but still want the env decay on the filter to give the attack portion you need to stop the filter closing all the way down to leave you with some sub or even a bit higher depending on your needs. You'll need to push the sustain on the filter env up a bit so it comes to rest higher up rather than filtering everything completely. Of course this may sound a bit crap on the sustained notes, so perhaps you could automate to close almost fully as I described but then come back up a bit to give some higher harmonics with the F/R knob. Maybe worth a try, obviously not 100% sure what you are after.

just had a look at the patch ... it would probably work better if you used a seperate envelope for the filter as atm. any filter tweaking you do on ENV1 also affects the amplitude. You'll get much better results that way I think.

Just 1 more idea, maybe try modulating the decay time of the fiolter envelope ?

EDIT : lol, just realised... I think Kalee actually altered the patch with another env for filter ... that's very helpful 8)

Great!! thank you guys ;) Much appreciated :D

I'm a bit late with this I suppose.

An MSEG might be the way to go as it allows the most flexibility.

I knocked up a very quick edit of your patch just to give a rough idea.(I haven't checked the others' yet.) There are a few extra segment points in the sustain loop to keep it from sounding too static.
