It's almost finished..
1st dry (usually 4 bars long), 2nd with Z-Comp activated.
Have a listen: http://www.box.net/shared/xrvec1cvfecju8ehasmu
Fortunately, I found a more dynamic drum loop from Ronan's Recording Show (featured at the beginning of this clip), the rest, from Wave Alchemy sample banks, are more processed to start with.
The compressor can also sound more clean and smooth. But it's mainly a punch/color compressor more for shaping and saturation rather than your standard, every task compressor.
Gonna fine-tune it and finally post it within this thread!
It definitely has it's own character!
Here's a picture of it: http://www.box.net/shared/oikeqykzc3p5kaeumupl

So, am I the only one that gets excited about compressors or are you waiting for more info and the patch as well?
Or the demo indicates that's a bad compressor?
If that's true I'd like to know, cause I think it's really great so far!
Did I mention it's build out of an XMF module?

The demo sounds good so far
Better then I thought! Definitely seems to be a "compressor" which can do things which my other compressors can't do
Cheers

I get very excited about compressors (I'm slightly embarrassed to say). I have a lot of them though ; )3ee wrote:So, am I the only one that gets excited about compressors
I'll definitely give this a try when the patch is there...

updated!...smoother attack and release times, refined compression curve, extra punch and color contour + other fine-tunings...
VINTAGE Z-COMPRESSOR
Applications: Add punch/snap, control dynamics, color and saturate dynamic audio material.
Features:
- Input level calibrator with high-pass filter detector (also possible to "clip" detection signal)
- High-Quality XMF based VCA!
- Gain compensated, dynamic saturation compression
- Compression character adjustor
- Calibrated attack and release times (smooth limiter when attack-[X3] set to 0)
- Special features for adding and adjusting punch and color.
Check out the patch info for a basic Z-Comp workflow instruction.
Enjoy!

Best used on snares, claps, hi hats ... drum and percussion, synth stabs , dynamic audio material in general.
Caution! For safety reasons, operate at low listening levels before familiarizing with the compressor (especially if you prefer to skip the operation instructions, which I suggest you should not!)
Here are some details generated by Christian Budde's VST plugin analyzer:
http://www.box.net/shared/0oyao32t7g25cnlsq81g
----------------
Operation instructions: (also found within the patch info)
-Bring Y1 down until you see full EDL* activity (Input tab, green)
-Bring Y2 up for compression (too loud? bring Y1 up for a max but "non-clipped" EDL*
-Adjust compression character using X2
-Adjust atk and rel times with XY3
-XY4 - extra features
*EDL - Envelope Detector Level
Sweet Spot input signal (-15 to -8 db peak)
(For more saturation feed input signal around -6 db and for less, set it around -15 db peak.) (Don't use Zebrify's Input knobs as they are post env detector)
Hope you'll like!
Cheers"

Some extra tips while using the Z-Comp:
-If the "snap" is too sharp, bring down the compression (Y2), right about below 50% (0.00) should be fine.
-The input level (not the one found within Zebrify's mixer as it's post env detector
) is also great for fine-tuning the compression (besides controlling the saturation amount)
-This is a character compressor, so don't expect it to act as your all purpose compressor.
