file system (and not a swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, you might try running e2fsck with an alternative superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>
fsck.ext3: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/hda4
[FAILED]

*** Dropping you to a shell: the system will reboot
*** when you leave the shell .
Give root password for maintenance
(or type control-D for normal startup):

Any help whatsoever to resolve this would be appreciated my music is lost without my muse!
Any ideas as to what i can do? (bin it is not the answer!)
