I think I like the phaser the best. The frequency sifter is a lot of fun and I'm using the reverb more and more instead of V-Room (though I demo Breeze the other day - holy crap...).

I think I know what you mean, stuff that smears out across the body of a drum hit? I would definitely recommend Nick Moritz's (free) Uhbik-A patches, http://www.u-he.com/PatchLib/uhbik.html - there are a lot of drum room or suitable-for-drums presets.

In general I think Uhbik-A is maybe the most subtle effect in the bunch (classy? refined?). It tends towards pretty transparent, relatively realistic spaces, at least by the knobs IMO. If you want big air reverb, I'd suggest going far to the late side of the early/late control and using a larger amount pre-delay. This will emphasize the smear, and de-emphasize the early reflection stuff that the brain would read as defining the space.

Okay I played around with A a bit, this is as close as I could get:

Is there a way to make A growl like that? A also adds a lot to the stereo spectrum, the left and right channels have different peaks, I'm not sure how to minimize that without going full mono.

Sorry for the derailment! :scared:

Its usually on snares or kicks I'll use KFX, any other time I'm using A.

My shot at a similar A patch: http://www.box.com/s/1rfaesyd8egz505k42pn

Not that it's way off - I think A is a little too naturalistic to quite pull off exactly the same sound, but I think this is temporally & spectrally pretty close, the timbre is more roomy though.

I'm halfway tempted to try with Zebrify - the comb filter in dissonant + the reverb on that could be a little closer to the Karma, but no time. Or, hrmm, maybe some kind of comb-y uhbik-P or uhbik-D along with the A preset. (Eek, the time it took to think about that last sentence was time I don't have. No regrets though.)

Yeah, thats what I mean, too hifi for that particular sound.

I usually use it on snares, no idea why I decided to use an over the top kick as an example.

Wow. lol.

The upside of all this is that I got to play with A a bit more than I usually do. I need to spend time with D now, it's a great pingpong, I wonder how psychedelic I can make it.

That was my initial feeling when I demoed them. It took a lot of time to really warm to them and want to buy them. I think what clinched it is that while I don't use chorus, flanger etc a whole lot, it's nice to have a quality set of standard effects on standby for when they're needed... But now I have them I'm finding allsorts of uses for them I hadn't dreamed of before :)

runciter is the one I use the most. almost everytime, all the time.

I use the G a lot to for granular effects and other stuff. I use quite a bit the delay and the verb (for natural subtle reverbs).

I just don't use that much the P and the F, don't know why, I mean, they are pretty amazing effects !!

Incidentally, for people having trouble with T, I recommend perseverance, I was totally nonplussed by the interface at first but after half an hour of careful observation I have it sussed, and I have to say, it takes a few very simple effects (volume, LFP, stereo time delay (haas delay)(..)..) and really takes them out to new but subtle places. Very good for fine detailing on a mix.

The order of use for me is G,P,A,S,T. However, I may need to play with Runciter more. I don't use heavy/mangling type effects often and that's how it came across to me. Seems like I need to dig a bit deeper...

Post

T, F, P, D and A, not necessarily in that order.

I have a standard Chorus, Delay, Reverb setup with F, D and A that I use a lot. And I think Urs' tag line on F is right on: Think you don't need another Flange effect? Try this one anyway.

P is a great effect too, with a million different variations on a very popular theme.

A took me a while to come around to, only because of my lack of programming skills. The addition of the vintage tribute hall presets really put it over the top for me. Use it as a verb send quite a bit.

I'm a bit baffled by the confusion some seem to have over T. Maybe it's because I don't go deep enough and just use the individual functions in isolation, like gating and panning. I'm particularly fond of the gating and pattern controls. I've always like synths that have these built in, but now it's very easy to get rhythmic gating effects from pads no matter where they come from. Brilliant.

The other filter effects are great too, but I'm not really a beat-mangler so I'm not as attached to these.

So many plugins, so little time...

Tried but don't really like them .. Just can't really get into the sound ..
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Btw: Runciter can be an awesome bass enhancer.

1) Turn the LP and the BP to 0 and th HP to 100.
2) Set the cutoff to 0 and the resonance to something like 20 or 25.
3) Now sweep the cutoff up until you get the "ooooomph" you want :hihi:
4) Adjust the resonance and maybe bring back some of the LP filter.
5) Adjust the dry/wet control (You may run into phase issues though).

Instant boomy kicks :hihi:
Works really well on basslines too and it cleans up the low end as a bonus :)
The drive knob can have some nice effects too!

Cheers

I had a pretty good run ;) with Runciter last night. I managed to find the sweet spot for simple warm resonant sweeps, and a whole bunch of other sounds.

Purely on a making presets level, I think T is the most fun. There's a lot of mileage in both the LFO and the pattern morpher (well, technically I should probably say "blender" ;) ), as a way of extending what you can do with the basics.
