I confirm the behaviour with a switched off RME interface.pljones wrote:4.0.65 and ugh. Forgot to turn on my AudioFire, got the "Unable to start audio engine", so hit close on the main window. After clicking the quit-no-save option, MULAB hung until "Internal thread loop time-out error @ abstrctdngn[225]". (Okaying that proceeded as expected to the "do you really want to quit?" dialog.)

some things:
how do you change the range of the little on screen keyboard?
and once you minimize a window to the 'mutools task bar' and then maximize it again, it disappears from the task bar? where did it go? it should stay put once its there. right click to delete or something.
you cant minimize the modular section now?
also, when you push mulab's 'square' on the windows task bar, it maximizes but then you cant click it again to minimize it. why not? i want this. i need to go all the way up to the top right corner to minimize mulab. i would much rather just click on its square in the bottom of the screen.
a lot more to check out of course. awesome that theres a drum sample interface. soo many knobs to tweak too! these are just my initial impressions.

Finally back from oversea and open M4 for the first time. Awesome upgrade. Definitely a well prepared ground for future development vision.
Well done Jo!
I went through the 10 pages of the topic and, not being able to test it yet, I felt a little overwhelmed by the different point of views and needs.
Well, here is a little question:
There is that new little indicator at the bottom of the sequencer about the sequence's attributes. Why not having one for the Composition as well to be used to switch between composition on the fly as you do with the Grid. That really would give us the A/B scenario in a more fluid way rather then going through that long menu each time.
OK, back to the monitor....

Similar as http://www.mutools.com/mulab/docs/edito ... ation.html> DiGiT < wrote:how do you change the range of the little on screen keyboard?
The hidden windows dock shows the hidden windows.and once you minimize a window to the 'mutools task bar' and then maximize it again, it disappears from the task bar? where did it go? it should stay put once its there. right click to delete or something.
When you click a button there the window is unhidden = shown and so it is removed from that dock.
The Session Modular Area window you mean?you cant minimize the modular section now?
Indeed i see there is a prob there: when hidden, it's not put on the hidden windows dock. Will check.
If you want to switch to another app, there are several alternative/better ways. Clicking that windows taskbar button would only deactivate the MuLab windows, but then what? Anyway, for compliancy, i'll see what i can do, but maybe only in 4.x.also, when you push mulab's 'square' on the windows task bar, it maximizes but then you cant click it again to minimize it. why not? i want this. i need to go all the way up to the top right corner to minimize mulab. i would much rather just click on its square in the bottom of the screen.

Thanks for the interesting suggestion. Added a note about this on the wishlist.liquidsound wrote:There is that new little indicator at the bottom of the sequencer about the sequence's attributes. oh please make it so a window stays on the dock after you show it... it would make much more sense in my opinion and allow faster navigation. not a big deal but would make workflow much easier.mutools wrote:The hidden windows dock shows the hidden windows.

I like to see that the 2 windows of the deep editor ( MUX en Synth construction screens) stays open together when i choose a another sound
So i can see at the same time the content of both screens..seems to me not absurd to want this?

I noticed that when opening an M3 project in M4 there is a warning that the composition could sound slightly different in M4.
That made me wonder, why is that? Because effects have changed or something in the whole 'sound engine'?
Also noticed that M4 projects are not backwards compatible to M3, but can't complain about that of course. It's the price of evolution

There are a couple of reasons that *could* cause a difference in the sound, i'll document that in the M4 docs soon, but the main reason which affects all patches and sessions a little bit is that the M3 ADSR used linear slopes while the M4 ADSR uses logarithmic slopes which sound much better/natural. But so there is a little difference in the sound and the envelope times may not feel exactly the same, eventhough M3 patches and sessions are converted as good as possible.Nielzie wrote:I noticed that when opening an M3 project in M4 there is a warning that the composition could sound slightly different in M4.

Now there's just one other little thing that made me wonder. In M3 (and I think in M2 too) the "Play"/"Record" buttons and display where in the middle of the screen, but that changed in M4, it's now on the right. Any particular reasons why this has changed?

Maybe I missed the answer somewhere in other topics but, why is that we have now a beautiful envelope drawing feature by itself and not in the sequence editor under the piano-roll? That makes it quite difficult to synchronize it with the midi event located in a piano-roll while the envelope is on a different part. OK when by direct input via MIDI controller but by hand is not easy to match the note events...
Very beautiful indeed added feature. Can this be port to the piano-roll eventually?

Yes i try to figure out ..how to automate say a filter cut off from a Mulab instrument and also a VSTi instrument in the composingscreen ( not piano roll )
There is no "target" feature anymore and try to follow johnny pumphandle's tutorial, but that is now outdated with MuLAb 4

Because in modern music making choosing a sound comes before composing.Nielzie wrote:Now there's just one other little thing that made me wonder. But i want to make the panes movable so you can order them as you wish.
I've also been thinking to make separate panels for the SESSION and MULAB menu. Would that be a good idea?

I can't say much about this now, i must study it first.
Wrt syncing editors: Note that in M4 you can do 'parrallel editing' by opening multiple editors at the same time.
