I'm on a Mac Pro with 10.6.8 and using Cubase 6.
I see that a lot of the plugins have 64 bit support on OSX, but only within Logic and other AU hosts. Is there a planned 64 bit VST update for any of the products? I was really hoping the DIVA beta would be 64 bit, but no dice.
I know 64 bit support isn't necessary for instruments with low RAM usage, but stability and usability is far superior with a 64 bit plugin in a 64 bit host. Bridges just don't cut it.
I love your products and would love to purchase more, but my workflow revolves around 64 bit support!
Thanks,
Dave

I'm sorry, but for 64bit support you need Cocoa, but you can't have the same Cocoa code in two different plugins at the same time. Thus all our bundles (Zebra, Uhbik, Filterscape) would not run unless
- we did a shell-like vst (not supported properly)
- we do only the single plugs (diva, mfm, ace)
- we rewrite our gui library with externalised Cocoa layers
None of the above are serious options. The only option for us is moving to VST3 which has built-in and proper shell support. Which we will start as soon as possible, maybe right after Diva's initial release.
On a side note, I think that Steinberg improved the bridge considerably short time ago. I think there isn't much of a difference in workflow, i.e. there's no modal editor for bridged plugs anymore...?

Urs, thanks for the reply!
VST3 support would be the icing on top of the 64bit cake.
I understand the developmental restrictions and know that it's a huge resource commitment. I'm not sure what you mean about the modal editor for plugs. Cubase's bridge is definitely more stable than Logic's AU bridge, but is still a cumbersome workaround.
Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me. I love how reachable you and your team is.
