Good Morning,
I have gone through the initial steps to cross-grade my FM8 on my Mac to run on the Receptor, meaning I have have sent my email and serial number which was then confirmed by Native Instruments. I then received the email with the discount code and instructions to add FM8 to my cart and enter the discount code. The issue is the Plugorama site says FM8 is direct install and does not give the option to add to the cart, only the add to favorites and cross-grade options which runs me through the steps I have already completed. In the red banner it also says This item not sold at Plugorama. This looks to be a really confusing issue I am finding and is starting to make me regret purchasing this device even though I got it used on ebay. The difficulties of getting things together and running are nowhere near as simple as your advertising and tutorials make it out to be, or at the very least you have not been as clear about the ideal environments a musician must be running in order for things to go together as smoothly as all of the tutorials suggest. This has a high potential for disenchanting enough consumers to go back to high end laptops with all of their issues as opposed to jumping through all of the hoops it seems to take to get things to "Simply" work. Is this a product you really want the market to expand for or is it really just meant for a specific group of high end performers on the inside track? I am beginning to wonder.

Dan,
I believe you will need to go to Receptor tools on your computer (access Receptor from your computer). There should be a link (button) to Direct Install from the opening screen (where you would choose - mount the hard drive, Receptor viewer etc.) When you have accessed the Direct Install page you should be able to search for FM 8 (it may be under Kontakt 5?). There should be further instructions there on installation. You will need your original FM 8 installer/disk. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I am away from my receptor and computer at the moment. I think this is generally the right path though.
There is not anything to do at Plug-O-Rama regarding purchase or install of this plug. Once you have done a few - it's gets a little easier
Good luck.

Hi Dan,
First let me apologize for the situation. Looks like our FM8 entry in plugorama is not supposed to have the crossgrade option- that was a mistake. Cross grades are reserved for plugins sold on www.plugorama.com that use the iLok USB dongle I've gone in and corrected it so future customers are less confused.
I'll also admit that installing plugins is not the easiest of things on our product right now. We probably receive more requests in tech support for help installing plug-ins than anything else. A lot of the trouble comes from the fact that we run a customized linux OS which is streamlined for really quick audio performance. This means we don't have as many of the other tools that might help make plugin installation easier on a PC or Mac. Once customers get past the install frustration and start using the Receptor they're usually blown away by the performance and sound quality of it. Recently we have been making an effort to have more plugins pre-installed on new Receptors (especially the NI plugins) so that all you have to do as a user is register it and your done. Unfortunately thats not an experience customers who buy used can have.
As far as getting FM8 installed goes the easiest way to do it is to follow the instructions at the link below for updating NI plulgins. These instructions are for updating NI plugins, but the smaller NI synths can be installed new using their update files, which makes it a little bit easier. If you get stuck feel free to open a support ticket at www.plugorama.com.

Trying to install with the update installer did not work. The Receptor is requiring a full installer. My original program is FM7 for Mac. Still no go here.
