And if you look closely at the pics, you can see Ace in there. Wonder if that's cracked too?

Strange he'd crack some software and buy others. It's a shame, no matter how you look at it.Urs wrote:The ACE is legit.osiris wrote:http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=335223

Maybe he knows Urs tends to be active online and dared not steal from him - there was that hilarious YouTube exchange whereby someone posted a comment on a U-he video asking where he could get a cracked version of the synth (don't recall which one), and Urs posted the response
That probably did more than any anti-piracy scheme - shame is a powerful emotion.
What's nice is that, for the most part, the community of serious (incl. amateur) computer musicians is behind legitimate purchases. Most plugs are amazing values, and as a software developer, I personally deplore the idea that, because something cost virtually nothing to re-produce, the people who engineered it should live in grass huts.
I'd say "they wouldn't steal a keyboard, guitar, drums..." but that's not true. My crappy band
sometimes plays at The Cave in Chapel Hill, NC. There's a parking lot behind the clubs. I loaded my drum kit in the car and was about to leave it, when a band mate suggested I move the car to street parking. I thought that was less safe, but he informed me there are more break-in's at the lot from the guys in the other bands. Sad...

I also think Urs subtle out of tune and other anti crack protection methods are very effective.
I really don't get it, they are tons of successful producers who will use cracks without thinking twice about it but have no problem buying an expensive car or house or expensive hardware. I really don't get the mindset..I make my money from music, mostly music licensing...and if I am expecting someone else to respect my licensing and copyright, its the least I can do. Plus software plugins are soooo much cheaper than what I use to spend on hardware years ago..plus if there is a bug or glitch, I get the chance to bitch and hopefully have it fixed......and there is that thing called Karma too.

You can hear when people really love their instruments. No one will ever achieve this with cracked software.

I've seen this crop up elsewhere and the guy openly admits to 'try b4 u buy' but has stated that all the software he uses in his work is 'legit' and paid for. He also stated that the cracked version often stays installed incase he looses presets etc and that its just easier to leave installed what seems working for him.
Ohmboyz delay was another one he used that wasn't licensed to him.
I don't know how much truth is in what he said but Urs seemed to back up a bit of his claim, so it might be genuine.
Also the guy has commercially released music under his belt and I'm pretty sure he knows what its like to have your work taken for nothing.

Karma isn't going to solve anything.
