this will be a great OSC! I'm planning on buying diva, as I might not be able to wait that long for a full version, but I just may have to try my skills here hehe.
Is sampling allowed like tyrell contest?

If I want to keep up with my every-2-months-rhythm I have to contribute again this month - and in fact I got an idea for something on the 28th of November and just realized I could maybe use that to fill the scary emptiness in my idea of a full track derived from my last submission (The Boat / Charlatan Solo)
I haven't tried the synth yet, but... can it really be a disappointment?

Yes but only to save CPU and not for creative purposes. Remember the rule is that: "bouncing/sampling are allowed but only where the EXACT same result could have been achieved using the original synth" Emphasis on exact so if you can't get a consistent kick drum for example, the sampler shouldn't be used to single out a good one and use that.elipsis1 wrote:Is sampling allowed like tyrell contest?

Lets assume it is possible to get a consistent kick drum. Is it allowed to use effects on the kickdrum after or before sampling?V'ger wrote:Yes but only to save CPU and not for creative purposes. Yes, as far i know it's possible, always that the kick sound it's exact as if were made with the synth. The bounce thing it's about to use the sound from the synth, but without the synth.Acronym wrote:Lets assume it is possible to get a consistent kick drum. Chain
X synth playing in real time a Lead -> Realtime Reverb = Reverbered lead.
It's the "same" as...
X sampled/bounced lead from same synth -> Realtime Reverb = Reverbered lead.
It's the "same" as...
X sampled/bounced reverbered lead from same synth -> Reverb rendered (before of)/No realtime effects = Reverbered lead.
Where orange colour it's the same result in any case.
So, of course you can use effects before or after.
We always did it in that way.
You can't do is to change the pitch, tone, midi note, reverse the wave or taking a different sound that you can't take with the synth.
Like it happenned the last time with the kick and Sonigen (which was just an minor issue with the unison thing at last)
So, the erratic sound/kick/whatever phenomena it's not very typical on synths.
It will be the same thing, the same sound, but with different CPU usage, and that is the purpose of bouncing. (But you all already know this)
Just be honest with yourself and with us, play fair in the contest and make the same sound. Easy
Sincerely, i would feel embarrased if someone cheats taking advantage of this Bouncing thing. But i think, more embarrased would feel the cheater if we catch him when checking his project.
So, think twice before cheating, and be honest with yourselves and with us.
(This is like the videogames slogan: Winners don't use drugs)

Oh, no!

So then we'll have to throw this hopeful beginning of a track away?

Oh no, you don't have to drop your beautiful work. For instance, just reverse the midi data, in order to obtain a fresh, new, amazing trackRuediRena wrote:bzur wrote:I second that, definitelyIrionDaRonin wrote:

EDIT: and of course, the suggested new, fresh, amazing title would be: "tchan ellits".

In case you missed it in the OSC general discussion thread, there is now a rules poll so have your say by voting in it, but please keep comments relating to the poll/topic in that thread.

Well, having just started to mess around with Diva today I can already give you an answer to that question - probably all of them!JJBiener wrote:What would be interesting is if everyone posted how many tracks they had to bounce to get the song recorded
OMG, my PC now really looks its age, most patches I can't play more than 3 or 4 notes without my system grinding to a halt
