probably..but if when you press the button record for events and then the record button and then change a knob, when it prompts for the name you wish for the sub-track, this subtrack should be automaticaly placed under the main track of the vsti that is recording....this would make it active right away and would prevent users from miss understanding from how it works and give a better functionailty to the software.... the way as it is placed (under all tracks) makes it not active ... like.. me for eg. when i produce, i make all the sequence and then record the automation (a cutoff filter for eg.) but this is done with several instruments playing while only one is recorded for the automation, so if i have 5 vst's playing at same time and then record an automation, this should be placed right under the instrument im recording... normaly producers dont ask for an automation track (subtrack in Mulab) before they record (wich is a bit unlogical, but true)....

Do i miss something...

But if you choose a track(focus on it by clicking on it!) with a vsti and than record a knob from this vsti for automation than the automation track is placed automatically under de track with note events.

It becomes a subtrack( the automation ) from the maintrack and make that note data and automation data is grouped together for the main track

Yes try it yourself!
And don't forget the modulair area where you can construct sounds and effects and also automatable
And last the session modulair area

strange cause when i click on the rack containning the vst it turns yellow and when i click to open the vst instance and turn a knob it just deselect the yellow from the rack and automation always appear in the end of racks :s ... im making something wrong for sure....

Post

alienoiz.. you must click on the trackpanel=trackheader ( not on the rack itself ) to focus the track ..than the automations will be automatically added to this maintrack as subtracks
Do you see the + for adding tracks....there you see the trackpanels=trackheaders with names on it

Now it must work... :)

Note: Mulab is working on the manual for MULAB4

Post

well, but that is for an fx or something like that, is not?... when i add a vsti for a rack it doesnt appear no + button ..only if i add a subtrack the + button appears, is not? at least is what is happenning in version 3 free... no + button when add vst or fx just when i add a subtrack... jezz, or im being very dumb or we are making a big confusion for a simple thing ehe :)

Post

Yes, it can be complicated when we use different versions of MULAB :D ..but you can ask what you want.
The (NEW) + button is for version MULAB4 and is for adding tracks
Install this MULAB 4 (the newest version) version http://www.mutools.com/mulab/cedar

You must click on a trackpanel to focus this track and than add automation subtracks automatically by MULAB 4 program and don't know if it is working for the old version MULAB3

Forget MULAB3 and use only MULAB4 because it is much more userfriendly!
It is now in test fase MULAB4 and developer Jo from MULAB has made a enormous job to bring MULAB to a new level of userfriendlyness and functionality
Outstanding achievment by him.

ive downloaded the version 4 yesterday but i didnt liked the GUI and i dint explored much of it...so... i deleted it and kept the version 3 wich (imo) has a much better GUI... but even so...honestly..im more turned to Reaper :s, yet i find Mulab a great tool and im appreciating your support very much :)

I think there are some skins too for MULAB4 ( i am curious to that too ?), but you don't probably like that vivid coloring of the racks?
Version 3 is more difficult to use than version 4

And yes reaper is also a impressing piece of software too

yes..the colors are a bit heavy for the eyes..after a while might "hurt" a bit, and for what ive seen in Mutools.com skinning for version 4 is being made...

Well you know at least how the automation works for MULAB version 4..happy composing!

I also find the rack colouring a bit distracting. I think it'd look better if there was an option to have something like a small indicator on the racks instead of colouring the entire body.

yes, i believe a header coloured and the rest more "darky" like in version 3 would be cool!

Maybe the color scheme should be as in M3 but having the active Track/Rack highlighted with a color of choice. I mean a solid color like we have now in M4 and the rest as usual. That would stand out and make it easy so see on what we are working at the moment and would be less of a distraction or messy....

thats what ive said :P if you insert a coloured rectangle with the title of the rack/module inside, would be less distracting and at same time usefull for what you have as an objective... but i would use colours less fluor than what ive seen in M4!
