1.1.7 will continue to be available but it will not be supported (no updates and some future product may not work on it).
If you got some trouble with it, tech support will be happy to help you though.
Does that mean UVI soundbanks and Motu's products like the MSI will eventually be unusable? The software environment isn't going to stay like this forever, new OSes are always going to be released.

Folk Bloke wrote:This isn't good enough. I have spend much more than $199 on UVI Soundsource instruments and neither want or need MACH3.

You can't just pull features from products already purchased and being relied upon by users. I'm reworking old cues for new episodes of a TV series. After upgrading from UVI 1.1.7 to UVI 2 (in order to use in 64bit setup) I can't edit any of the sounds I was using. I mean seriously, not even basic envelope attack and release.

What's my option? Spend $249 on Mach3 when I don't need it. I own Kontakt 5, Gigastudio and others. Even if I wanted MACH3, that's not the point. I've spent hundreds of pounds on UVI Soundsource instruments, including over £300 ($450) recently on the IRCAM instruments, and was always happy with the UVI interface and its editing featues. All gone now. What am I supposed to do?
I have spend $900 to the USB products by at least total.
And It may will exceed $1000 soon.

In principle, free software has been spoiled from all guaranteed.
A business plan may be often given high priority to over the wishes of the users.
Furthermore, I will add "Editable version" to a lineup for $49 if I was a seller:p

I don't think progress is necessarily the best choice for all people.
Please don't forget that you can continue using v1.1.7 if you so wish.

@Folk Bloke
Crossgrade to M5 are of course optional.
Previously released UVI Soundbank will be updated to follow
UVIWorkstation changes and editing suited to each soundbank will be
provided.
M5 allows you to have full editing though. Way more that you had in
UVIWorkstation 1.

Those changes in UVIWorkstation was made for a simple reason:
a fixed editing panel didn't suit future soundbanks
and wasn't far from perfect for older soundbanks especially one with
multiple layers.
For example, if you had a preset with release trigger, changing the amp env was moving the envelope of release samples as well.

Don't hesitate to contact us at support@uvi.net if you need more info

@canadianlight
Absolutely not, but you will need to move to UVIWorkstation 2 at some time.
People say, don't fix what ain't broken.
We don't force you to update your OS, if you decide to do so then it's
all up to you.
Even though it has required a lot work, we offer you free of charge
OSX 64bits support.
Just check Digidesign Protools policy for fun.

This may or may not relate to the previous point about custom paths. I'm running UVI Workstation as a plug-in to DP7.24 on a new Macbook Pro (i7 processor) running Lion 10.7.2.

I find that neither Version 1.1.7 nor version 2.0.1 will see Ethno.ufs. I've placed aliases to Ethno.ufs and Ethno.dat in Lbrary/Application Support/UviSoundBanks, but to no avail. This worked fine with Workstation version 1.1.7 in Snow Leopard on my old Mac Pro.

Is this an issue of Lion support that has yet to be resolved, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!

You need the Ethno application to be installed as well.
Just the bundle in /Library/Application Support/MOTU/Ethno
You can just copy it from your old mac Pro

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I did the Motu Ethno I install and that did the trick! One detail - It didn't work until I replaced the aliases I had made to the .dat and ufs files with the ones created by the Motu Install.

Thanks again.

Just "downgraded" from UVIWorkstation 1.1.7 to UVIWorkstation 2.0.2... WOW, that was by far the biggest disappointment of the year!

Time to "upgrade" from 2.0.2 to 1.1.7! Seriously guys, what were you thinking?

I was actually going to purchase "Acoustic Grand Piano" today, but after finally managing to try out the update, I will most definitely be passing on this one and any other future v2.0 libraries!

I use Reaper 64bit on Windows 7 and installed 64bit version.
It still can't load RX2 files. Is it because Rex Shared Library not updated?

I installed UVI Workstation 2 32bit but unfortunately Reaper doesn't recognize it.

So I'm totally stuck without REX and have a lot of them :(

REX library in 64bits has indeed not been released by the propellerheads guys.

From Reaper 3.2 onwards, there is supposed to be a bit bridge integrated.

You can try uninstalling the 64bits version and install back the 32bits version.
Maybe Reaper disable the 32bits one when it found a 64bits version.

that's what I did. Uninstalled 64bit and installed 32bit but it's not recognized :(

ok.
I know for sure there is a 64bits Windows version of the REX DLL, but it hasn't been officially released.
You can try contacting the prop guys to get it.

I'll try to do the same on my own.
