Looks fantastic! Expensive for an App but when you think how much the original Jazz Mutant devices cost it's peanuts really. I'm very interested in this App, although I need to find out as much about it as possible before diving in. If it was a £5 App of course I'd buy it INSTANTLY! At a fiver I'll take a chance! At £35 I need to find out some more during these troubled times

You can download the editor and user guide here to give you an idea:

http://liine.net/en/support/

If you press and hold the e key while in the editor, you can use the mouse to play with the objects like they would work on the ipad, well without multitouch, off course.

Anybody got it working with a desktop PC using wifi (not ad-hoc)? I've installed loopMIDI and created a virtual port and the Lemur Daemon recognizes it, but no luck getting any MIDI messages into Cubase. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

edit: got it working, by setting up another port in loopMIDI and restarting the computer.

This is extremely promising. Have only scratched the surface yet, but this is MIDI controller heaven, for sure. With Liine saying it's just a start and promising more objects and in-app editing, it's a no-brainer if you're looking for something like this.

I'm thinking a physical connection would be best - does anyone know if the iRig Midi device would work with this?

Post

Can this be used to control other iOS apps?

I think it should work fine with the iRig MIDI as it supports Core MIDI I believe.

Great - I really hate having to have my wifi turned on just to connect my iPad to my laptop - wifi is horrible generally for audio (dpc etc) - I just wish I didn't have to keep it for when I use Konkreet Performer as I don't think there is a way to physically connect OSC based apps is there?

Post

I'm pretty sure that's right - osc must use wifi and any translation to midi happens pc side iirc.

Thinking of buying the irig midi myself so hopefully that's the solution.

Haven't had time to try this out yet, but there's some good looking templates for reaktor by Antonio Blanca here. Don't know if they work straight off the bat (he's done an ipad lemur template for twisted tools scapes already) :

Awesome, thanks. I read there was a Metaphysical Function template - any idea where that is?

Heh - you're on my wavelength. Found a reference to that yesterday in the ni forum, but it was unresolved as to where to get it. Anyone?

Post

silly question alert. Can you use all the MAC apps to control a daw or whatever on pc? just checking. do you need a mac to use ipad stuff like this?

So, i figured i'd go straight to the horse's mouth and i've heard back from Antonio Blanca. Expect to see 3 new reaktor lemur templates later this month, and metaphysical function at some point in the future :o

Here's his new website which will be focusing on lemur :

Great, thanks. I've been looking for something like this ever since the first time I tried Metaphysical function (think there was a christmas present free version from NI).

You should have no problems doing this with the MidiBridge app. Rudess uses it to let geo control sampletank.

I don't think this is necessary as I can access animoog, alchemy,.. directly as long as they expose their midi inputs.
You can assign and connect directly up to 10 midi ports, which can be internal or external (wifi, usb,..).

Once I'm done with my gear/plugs/host routing/managing I'll probably work on a home made "keyboard" for animoog as there is some interesting potential there.

Edit:

Given the potential of Lemur for ios, especially with the scripting, this app kills most of all other midi only apps, except maybe a few very specific ones, and even then... . I don't have midibridge but I'm pretty sure that you can do all what it does and much much more.

When I think that I just bought a mac book air and starting diving into iOS coding just to be able to create my own midi tools :x
