(Man, your sounds are three times as loud as all the others, almost gave me a heart-attack)
haha...Be Safe....loved your sounds mate.....I was trying to redesign the same ancient stone instrument....

Getting back to the FM topic....I Found another patch in which I used FM.......and to me it sounds like FM adds a lot of character, not just a bit growl in Sync On Mode..........The trick is in using detuning and FM for setting a good character first....and the second thing is to modulate the Pitch of the both carrier and other Osc......and then if you like modulate the FM amount as well.....it should be all musical till here

Hear this - First part FM is 0 , then it's 40 and then it's 100...and then automates to 0.......

btw my earlier patch "Diva Siren" didn't work with the new beta, so I had to redesign....but i miss the older one  :help: .......it was better IMHO

It can do so much more!
Haha :D Well, for many, vintage cheddar has a preferable taste in comparison to modern plastic ;)

The problem with VST emulations, to some people who like their "old" hardware, is there's usually something lacking about the basic character itself. Not a big problem, unless those basic tones underpin a lot of your musical preferences, whether past or present. So, when you get a synth which largely overcomes that barrier, it's pretty understandable if people want to celebrate the fact first before answering all important questions such as how to make Diva sound like a martian cat ;)

Truth be told that's not really what I'd use Diva for though. Why? Because, if you're going to do more complex modulations or obliterate a sound with a wash of reverb anyway then, to some extent, it's not as vitally important that a ladder filter captures every nuance of a piece of hardware and eats big chunks 'o' CPU. I'd say, even though it's nice to try in Diva, maybe things like Bazille are better geared towards that sort of direction?

Btw Maybe it's just me but, if the object is more creative sound design, I somehow get a much greater sense of satisfaction from knowing that a rocket blast sound was actually created from a sample I made, of a cat snoring, than I do from making a synth look like a 1950's telephone exchange :) Maybe a nice distant future project for U-He could be a "creative" sampler, where the focus is on synthesizing samples, and fast sampling into the program. A more user friendly Kyma meets Vsynth rather than something like Kontakt? Just a thought :)

As for the FM in Diva.. One thing to maybe try, to avoid the whole "FX/noise/metallic bell/but not much else" sort of thing, is just bump the FM right up and start tuning the synth around the FM rather than adding FM and expecting some sort of glorious revelation. With that in mind I tried that with the following string sound. I'd maybe tweak it a bit further, but it's not too bad as-is and what results from such an approach is probably something slightly different than I would have gotten had I tweaked the sound without the FM being there. As it is anyone who tries this sound may want to stick between C1 and below a C5 note though ;)
