Hi Urs,

I emailed you a while back and also suggested on here this:

Curently when a modifier key is pressed whilst adjusting a parameter nothing happens, you have to adjust, unclick, press modifier key, click again and adjust.. thats not how other plugs ins (or DAW's as well) work. You'll be adjusting quickly and then want to refine, e.g cut off or LFO, etc..

At the time I suggested it you said (paraphrasing) "makes sense, Ill look into it"

Just chasing up really! :)

Hope you dont mind.

Ps anyone else use other plugs that have this and found this problem?

Cheers all

Looking forward to buying DIVA soon too! - sounds amazing already in my productions...!

While not in disagreement with the point, I'd like to point out the current system also has its advantages. For example, when using one hand for playing a MIDI keyboard and another one for dragging the pointer over a GUI control, there would be no easy way to perform fine adjustments with the proposed system, while currently one can (since the modifier 'sticks' after releasing it, one can select it before starting to play).

Perhaps it would be best to have users choose between both systems.

Perhaps it could "stick" anyway in fantismo's mode? If you really want to go back to course control immediately after some fine tuning (not very likely), release and click again. I'd have to try out all options to decide...

Agreed, it's one of those interface things that is best tested in multiple methods. I wouldn't be surprised if a different, and much more useful, method was discovered.

Indeed, good suggestion. :)

Another idea would be similar to the "scrubbing" control in the iOS iPod app (I assume many are familiar with this; if not, I could post a little screencap to illustrate): move the pointer in one direction (e.g. vertical) for value up/down, another direction (horizontal) for resolution (coarse/fine). In such a system multiple resolutions can be used (e.g. increment/decrement by 12.00, 10.00, 1.00, 0.50, 0.10, 0.01).

For me the ideal solution strongly depends on the particular context: for adjusting controls while playing MIDI, I'd love fantismo's suggestion, but not while playing the keyboard live (which I tend do less often, mostly while creating patches).

Yes the scrubbing mode is good.. but that makes for a lot of mouse movement, i think the scrub is better suited to touch devices.

does anyone else find them selves wasting time trying to get to whole numbers when using some U-HE instruments? I know i do. and i still press a mod key when scrolling through and i mutter damn!.. unclick. re-click. :)

I love how granular the adjustments are.. much more than other synths.

p.s

Urs makes the best soft synths.. hands down!
