KV331 Audio (The Synthmaster guy) wrote something like "Hey John! You don't have to use cracked synths! Drop me a mail and I'll send you a NFR copy of Synthmaster" on Twitter
Really sad!

Exactly, what is sad about that? Developers give NFR licenses because they get feedback&endorsement from those guys in return. If I were Lennard I would have done that in the first place but apparently he doesnt care.lotus2035 wrote:What's sad about that?Bronto Scorpio wrote:KV331 Audio (The Synthmaster guy) wrote something like "Hey John! What's sad is that out of everyone, the ones that are actually making money from music should definitely be paying instead of getting freebies. It's kind of like the saying, 'the rich get richer', why should the rich get special treatment, just as why should someone famous get even more benefits on top of the obvious things like actually making money from their music? If someone is making money from music I would think they would be the first ones to pay for the products they are using.kv331 wrote:Exactly, what is sad about that? Personally I take in the philosophy "It doesn't hurt to ask".
Yes I will buy your synth, but first I have contacted customer support wondering if there is a NFR License with my name on it?
Okay...well obviously I try to sell myself better than that because anyone in the right mind would rather take the money than give it away. Point is, it doesn't hurt to ask a company for an NFR lisence or a discount. On my Mixcraft I had contacted customer support about a trial extension since I didn't have the money to purchase it at the time.
They happily responded with a 15day trial extension and also said they understand that money can be quite an issue sometimes and gave me a 20% discount coupon as well. I didn't even ask for that!
Point is, just ask, worst they can say is no.

My biggest problem aren't the endorsements, even if I think that Synthmaster is good enough to speak for itself (It surely IS!!!). And I can understand that Bulent just tries to get the word out. Really nothing wrong with that.
But rewarding guys for using cracks is plain wrong! There is no doubt about that.
Really not meant offensive! Even if it may sound like that. I demoed Synthmaster and it's amazing. I just think it deserves more than that.
I was offered some NFR licenses too by the way! Most of 'em with the usual "You get it for free if you talk good about it" thingys.
What I do in that case is that I demo the synth and if I like it I'll happily take the NFR! That happened 1 time. I like to talk about things I like anyway, so why not?
I've declined many of these deals since I didn't like the synths though.
In general I'm not the biggest friend of endorsements of the famous people. Many guys here (including me) have to work hard to get all the shiny new toys. And that's exactly what these guys should have to do. It feels like if we "normal" guys are some kind of second class people otherwise.
I never understood why the "rich and famous" have to pay less. It should be the other way around.
Just my opinion of course.
Cheers

I doubt very much that Dahlbäck is 'rich', at least not from writing dance music. Being featured in an article in a magazine is not proof of financial wealth.djanthonyw wrote:It's kind of like the saying, 'the rich get richer', why should the rich get special treatment?

True, but the message this video sent to the world is still horrible.lotus2035 wrote:I doubt very much that Dahlbäck is 'rich', at least not from writing dance music. I didn't actually say he was rich, I was using that phrase as an example. What is the case however, is that he is a successful dance music producer in the scene and he surely makes more money from producing dance music than almost everyone here, yet we are all expected to pay for the products we use, so why shouldn't he, given his beneficial circumstances.lotus2035 wrote:I doubt very much that Dahlbäck is 'rich', at least not from writing dance music.
