Of course this trick is applicable to any software and instruments too!

:-)
that's cool eric. can we expect any native ipad stuff from spectrasonics? :)

is air display a concurrent vnc server kind of thing? i have been using wyse desktop for my RDP stuff, but that logs off the current user.

No...it works as a second monitor screen instead....extended desktop idea.

There are also some cool VNC iPad apps out there too like Desktop Connect.

Air Display works very simply too...less technical and very easy to setup.

Hey Spec - well nice, but will wait for 2nd gen iPad for this as the 1st gen ones are always not as good (ie iPhone). Never had any of the Spec instruments but might get Stylus RMX (have synths covered with the Soniccore card with all the synths and the Modular IV)....(i'm cack at doing drums/rhythms etc.... more a harmony and counterpoint kind of way of thinking....!)

IT BEGINS! Now I guess it's time for some xy control elements in Omnisphere's UI.

@spectrum: is that an rmx factory multi you're playing? It sounds completely unfamiliar to me and I thought I knew the rmx library pretty well...

Awesome!

Old thread, but I just got that Air Display app, thinking it would be another 10$ outside the window, but it's actually really cool and works well using an ad-hoc connection with my macbook air.

This on one iPad and Lemur on the other is perfect for me as I'm standing playing music (too much gear), and as the laptop is on a desk, I was getting tired going back and forth.

I have a wireless mouse next to it but so far haven't been using it much.

Nice :)

its kinda odd, I was sitting there wondering if i could use my ipad(s) to do this. and lo and behold....bam...this thread pops up. Yes i know its old, but I to just got this app and i have to say, this kinda rocks. it will save alot of room in my macbook transport bag. now i can have a second monitor when i travel away from home.

does anyone know if you can use multiple ipads with this...or at least use a monitor AND ipad at the same time? if not its still a awesome app.

Post

First be aware that on some mac it's not working (check on their site or app store first).

Connecting 2 ipads didn't work on my macbook air 13" but I was able to connect my second monitor and one of the iPad, so thanks for asking :)

Btw, does some one know if it's possible to have an ad-hoc connection and a 'normal' one to access the internet at the same time on osx ?

There's an app that does this on Windows now too - can't remember what its called (hastens to app store)

I use shape services iDisplay.
It adds a "move to iDisplay"/"move to main display" entry in the context menu of a window on the windows pc, quite handy to quickly put windows to the iOS display and back.

AND: on the iOS device itself, you can get a list of all windows on your pc, and toggle their appearance on iDisplay or main Display with a single touch...!!! Great idea!

Can't wait for a retina ipad3 to add a mobile high resolution touchscreen monitor to my setup...

That's the one - a lot cheaper than AirDisplay too

Does it use much cpu?

Do you have a keyboard too on idisplay ?

What I find is missing on AirDisplay is a quick zoom option.
Right now I use a switch on one of my midi controller that triggers an applescript via midipipe. It works but I would prefer something directly on the ipad.
I can use the keyboard, but it's not as quick.
