Hi, I'm a big fan of the ACE plugin but am having a big problem. When I save my patches I can't access them afterwards.. Where do they end up? I am using ACE on a mac with Ableton.

Also, I can't seem to find an ACE or U-HE folder when searching for it in the finder window. (thought I could find the program and search for the preset inside it)

Any help is greatly appreciated. Had this amazing sound that I spent an hour tweaking (kind of at random so hard/impossible to recreate) that is now gone.

Stefan,

Presets save here:

..\Vstplugins\ACE.data\Presets\ACE\

You have to however make sure that this location is not write protected. If your Vstplugins folder is under C:\Program Files\ then you might have to move ACE.data into your Documents location. There's a thread about this here:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=306890

It's also in the installation manual, and the installer should also warn you if you isntall teh data in a write protected area.

Let me know if you need further help.

;) Urs

Here's a tip that might help.

On a Mac, the factory patches are stored in MacHD/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/ACE/, and the Finder considers them system files and these are by default excluded from a standard search.

(Edit: This, of course, assumes that you saved your patch somewhere in the vicinity of the factory patches. I hope I'm making some sort of sense -- it's getting late here.)

But it's easy to fix. Google for something like "search for system files mac"

I found one set of instructions by Marc Cizravi.

http://www.marccizravi.com/2010/show-hi ... tem-files/

Skip the bit about using Terminal and go straight to the paragraph starting "Adding system files to your search comes next."

The key is clicking the plus icon next to the Save button, and then choosing the options "System Files" and "Are included". Also click to select "This Mac", and "File name" instead of contents in the search bar.

Now search for your patch -- if it's anywhere in your disk, the Finder should er... find it. Click once on the file name to select it, and the bottom of the window displays the path.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Trahast

arrrgh, he's on a Mac :dog:

Thanks Trahast... I'll check that out, too!

(I've started to add a "show in finder" functionality to the patch browser, but haven't got it working yet)

On the MAC, the factory patches are in the MacintoshHD Library , but the user patches are the User library. The rest of the structure is the same.

So if your Mac name is stefanstorm, instead of
MacHD/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/ACE

your user presets should be in
stefanstorm/Library/Audio/Presets/u-he/ACE

:D

Good point! I forgot to mention that. That said, searching "This Mac" and including system files will find any file, whether in the main library or the user library.

Truedat - I came from a PC background and keep forgetting that on the Mac, search works, doesn't take 4 hours, and is not accompanied by an animated mascot :D
