How to keep my settings on a re-install?

Computer crashed. Had to reinstall windows. Have re-installed MDrummer Large. I have a backup of my pre-crash Program Data/Melda Production with my own settings added, all in various folders with the name AA (eg. Breaks/AA/jazz. Searched for AA. Got list. Was thinking, OK, I'll just move all my bits into the new installation..tedious. Better way? Can I use windows 7 to burn a disc of all the files from the AA search then merge them somehow. Or should I have just put my backup Melda folder back in Program Data and re-installed over it?

Well, you can just copy the data. Try not to replace existing files

OK, that was easy enough, good thing I had put all my things (settings, loops etc) in my own easily identifiable folders (within MDrummers directory).MeldaProduction wrote:Well, you can just copy the data. Try not to replace existing files.
And silly me, I saw the 'burn' tab at the top of the search results window and thought I could burn all the folders in one clump, but of course they are just search results, not actual folders....der!
And re 'merging' in one go (with sub folders intact), there probably is an ingenious way of doing that, but after the last week of crash recovery nightmare I'm happy to have done this manually (slowly but surely).

Yeah... system crashes are always a big pain... Personally I started to keep four backups
, one updated every day, others are in safe locations, just in case of fire or something
. Sadly, a well targeted atomic bomb would probably destroy all of them
. You can never be safe...

And annihilate you as well, so I guess you wouldn't be needing them..all that work..fried ones and zeros.MeldaProduction wrote: Sadly, a well targeted atomic bomb would probably destroy all of them

No no, MeldaProduction is located in a top-secret facility 100 floors under the surface

And MeldaProduction will emerge from the ashes and save the world.MeldaProduction wrote:No no, MeldaProduction is located in a top-secret facility 100 floors under the surface.
It feels so good to have it up and running again, and thanks for the 'load multiple loops' fix in the update.
