How does external audio work?

I've tried connecting another VSTi to SynthMasterFX (newest full version) but can't get any (FX-modified) sound out of SMFX. What do I not understand about how this works? I'd like to use SMFX as I have used the FX version of Z3ta+, just feeding in external audio and having it filtered, delayed, etc. How to do this with SMFX. Any tips will be much appreciated!

Im not even sure about that myself and iv'e had SM for a long time. Im wondering though if it's just when you use SM as an insert FX plugin like you can with Minimonsta and Predator etc.. so i'd like to know too as ive' never really got into this feature.gwill wrote:I've tried connecting another VSTi to SynthMasterFX (newest full version) but can't get any (FX-modified) sound out of SMFX. Do this:
As osc type, select "audio in"
and set the threshold to a very low value. this will trigger a MIDI note that will trigger all voice processing blocks in SynthMaster.

Thanks, I got it working.
The audio input stereo channels are combined to mono. Both oscs of layer 1 do the same thing. So, feature request: provide 2 (each mono) inputs to SMFX, one for osc 1 and the other for osc 2, so independent FX-processing of each channel of a stereo signal is easy. I also see that layer 2 apparently doesn't process audio input, so, second feature request: provide 2 more inputs (4 in all!) to SMFX, so 2 independent stereo audio inputs may be FX-processed in parallel. Perhaps can't be done because of internal programming constraints?
Best wishes,
Greg Williams

Hi Greg,
I'll look into it. Shouldnt be too diffucult!
Just cant do it immediately, I have the web site improvements ahead first, followed by RTAS port. I can sequeze in those changes for RTAS release as well.

After thinking some more about the possibilities, I believe that for best host compatibility, it might be best to have a single _stereo_ input, and route the left channel to Layer 1 and the right channel to Layer 2.
Thanks for your fantastic work on SM!
