Here is a quick animation of voice 1 being the culprit on HS Maxi Swoop. It turns out to have nothing to do with playing fast. Just every time it hits voice 1 ... KABOOOM.

EDIT: Should add that if I change it to 8 or ... whatever number of voices, they all work until it cycles back to 1. Even stacked, all voices work until 1 is involved.

I'm having similar issues. It's always voice 1, and it's always after saving a project with an instance of Diva and then reopening it. I sometimes get a LOUD meter spike, along with a VST meter overload, and sometimes a crash. It's pretty consistent. Can't imagine why this is happening!

But, good Lord, I absolutely love Diva... this synth just brings everything to a whole new level! Can't believe how good she sounds.

To confirm issues with the x64 version of Diva 1.0 on Win 7 x64 with Cubase 6.0.5 x64 on a powerful latest-gen DAW:

For example, just going through the patches in "Local", I can usually cause the problem with the following recipe:

I'll start with patch "BT flex butter seq (mw + vel)" and play a few notes (which sound great, no problems with that patch!), but then simply click down to patch "BT juno hoovered bass (mw)" to play a few more notes, and Diva pops and becomes unresponsive. I'll click on patch "BT the master himself (at+mw+pb)" and the same thing, with some strange distortion. Then, I'll click back to "BT flex butter seq (mw + vel)" and it works fine again.

I can almost always get "BT juno hoovered bass (mw)" to fail... however, I did get it working with some series of patches I clicked on (but can't reproduce the pattern), but one of the voices would not sound! So whatever is happening in x64, "BT juno hoovered bass (mw)" and "BT the master himself (at+mw+pb)" seem like two patches that can cause the problem on my system fairly regularly.

Also, as I randomly go through the patches, it seems like about 10-15% (or more) of the ones I play so far exhibit the above behavior to one degree or another. Not sure the similarities between the problem patches yet... but not all patches seem to be affected from what I can tell. The ones that aren't affected sound brilliant, of course. :)

Looking forward to a fix on this issue! :)

On Win 7 x64 with Cubase 6.0.5 x64, I can't get the exact same problem as you with HS Maxi Swoop (so I'm not sure if it's related to the problem I explained in the prior post with "BT juno hoovered bass (mw)" and "BT the master himself (at+mw+pb)", but maybe it's related?). However, I can confirm HS Maxi Swoop does indeed seem to spike CPU after holding a note, or playing several notes for a while, and this is on a very fast DAW.

The following patch files are missing the InTune parameter name in the VCF1 module:

THIRD PARTY\BrontoScorpio\BS Dust Kick
THIRD PARTY\BrontoScorpio\BS Grain Pluck
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\Diva Keys
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\Emerson Mode
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\Hall of the King
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\House Chord
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\Submarine Radio Contact
THIRD PARTY\TREASURE TROVE!\WIP
2 LEAD\XS Big Sync
2 LEAD\XS Meaty Trance Lead

Example:

#cm=VCF1
Model=3
Freq=77.50
Res=81.00
FMSrc=6
FMDpt=38.00
FM2Src=1
FM2Dpt=-56.00
KeyScl=48.00
FFM=11.20
LMode=0
LColor=1
SkRev=1
SvfMode=0
Fback=0.00
ResSrc=0
ResDpt=0.00
FfmSrc=0
FfmDpt=0.00
FbSrc=0
FbDpt=0.00
=0
last entry should be InTune=0

Anybody noticed any problems with the VCF in those patches?

Interesting!

BTW when I load and immediately save, it replaces that bad line with
InTune=1

My guess is that it's a flag for precise filter tuning. Dunno whether it's actually used, though.

These are probably patches which were made with a very early beta (I made my two patches in the list even before Diva was public). The very first versions didn't have the "Calibrate Filter" button.

All the other patches except those are kosher so perhaps the authors of those patches could try editing the patch file and inserting the missing InTune parameter name and seeing if it changes the sound or behaviour of the patch.

I guess whether it matters is determined by how the code reads the parameter list by parameter name or by nth entry in the list of parameters.

Or if the parmeter is unused or reserved.

The only reason i found those patches is that i was importing the patch files into a database and got errors on those patches due to missing parameter names.

The reason for creating the database is so that i can create a "parametric" view of presets. Like a patch sheet.

The patch sheet could show knob values as well as info such as attack time in milliseconds or envelope duration for example.

Also noticed that HS Bass Nine is in local folder as well as bass folder.

Shouldn't these patches be an exception to the rule?

:-)
not my call.....I know they were programmed in draft mode.....my personal opinion is that we should have some kind of preference and we can choose if we want this setting per patch or per global.....I personally would always choose global, but I realise different ppl work in different ways.

The quality setting is always global for diva and not saved with any patches. I asked Urs to add a comment field to a patch that shows what setting the author used when he/she saved it.

I am still trying without luck ( think I have asked in about four different threads) how to change it globally. Urs had said initially save a default patch. but that has never worked for me.

Am I correctly under the assumption that Diva is not currently multi processor and core aware? I saw in the first post that this was the case and read through the rest, but didn't see any change. I tried it on my Mac Pro xeon dual core 3ghz * 2 and was defeated swiftly. Now I get the name, she likes to be the only one on stage. Thankfully Core i7 2600 on the way.

Beautiful sounding synth. Look forward to purchasing it.
