The (old) new VST incompatibility thread

In Tracktion 1.5.1.3, I get a severe system crash when trying to close the vst window which launches from inside the 'vb_ffx4' DX wrapper plug. Tested with several different DX plugs loaded. Can anyone else reproduce it?

I haven't had this problem yet with 1.5.1.3 (built: 23 March 2004) but experienced it before.

by the way: PSP PIANOVERB works as an dX thru' that wrapper.

SAMPLE TANK FREE works in TRACKTION when realtime priority mode is disabled!

I just got the new VSTi from Image-Line called Sytrus. It is the same VSTi as is built into the latest version of FL Studio, except that it is stand-alone. (I got it from http://www.sytrus.com/ ).

I have no problems adding Sytrus to a track and recording with it.

But during playback, the MIDI patch is set to number 43 ("Marimba") no matter which patch I use when recording.

I can manually reset the patch number, and this sticks. However, when I record new clips they become Marimba clips on playback.

Kind of funny but extremely annoying. Is this a problem with Tracktion or Sytrus?

Aaah. Never mind. For some reason the "default" midi patch was set to 43 on the settings page.

This is VERY weird...I have never touched that setting.

After updating to 1.5.1.3 I have problems with Tracktion not responding my Oxygen keyboard. Right now it crashed when I tried to disable the Oxy8...

But anyway, Sytrus DOES work in Tracktion.

The presets names are not showing up in the Program Change menu. It just list them all as unnamed.

any ideas?

Just tried latest Tracktion demo and my Phatmatik Pro doesn't work with it (PC)

It seems that it doesn't receive MIDI. If I press the wave audition button from Phatmatik, I hear the sample playing, but it doesn't respond to my keyboard...

Check to see if you have "end to end" enabled in Tracktion. Phatmatik is working fine over here.

I've had problems if you have run several different instances of Amplitube VST. When you hit the critical number (usually about 3), it suddenly jumps to 100%cpu and makes horrible buzzing sound.

Also, the waves plugins are DXI plugins but they come with a VST adapter; it does not work properly with tracktion.

I can't get the demo of Nomad Rock Amp Legends to work in Tracktion
(which may be just as well - it does show up in Spark and sounds lousy)
Nomad's BlueTubes plugs, however, DO work in both

Digitalfishphones Endorphin - it's a nice free compressor, but in Tracktion it sometimes gives distortion and dropouts. The sound develops nasty clipping, then degenerates into clicks. This seems to happen more with complex projects, so it could be it's just the first thing to give under a high CPU load, but it still does it when exporting audio - surely this shouldn't happen. (Is it possible to overload the CPU by exporting a project to WAV?)

(I'm on Win XP, AMD 2000+, 512MB, Terratec EWX)

Native Instruments' Elektrik Piano gets corrupt audio / dropped notes when rendering - even at 1x speed (it's better than normal speed, but still.. !). I'm surprised at N.I. on this one - they are normally s**t hot. Very odd one this, as it plays perfectly when working on songs - it just screws up on the render !

I have this problem with Drumkit Forem Hell 2 (which uses the Kompakt engine) in Sonar 2.2. I just upgraded to Sonar 3 and I am hoping the slow bounce function fixes the problem.

I think others have this problem too (I continued to have the problem, even with the newest Kompakt version and newest disk streaming extension).
