I have Mach Five 3, because I love the added synth and programming functionalities, but I'd like to add my voice to those that think the cripled v 2.0 of UVI Workstation is a complete nonsense. Why fix what isn't broken? Why step back? It really doesn't make sense. If you want to add scripts, then do it, but keep what was already there for the people that really want and are already used to to it.

I am the one who advocated for simplifying UVI Workstation 2 toward loading and playing UVI instruments because it's vocation is to be a player for our own soundbanks.

Please let me try to explain the design decisions and flame me if you think I deserve it.

We heard the critics on forums about UVI Workstation v1, being too flashy, hard on the eyes...etc and we tried to make it more neutral to give focus on content (i.e. soundbanks) and more specifically the new scripted instruments that have dedicated interfaces. Those new instruments required us to reorganize the user interface: we introduced the Single page and took the opportunity to streamline the workflow and simplify daily usage.

In the aim of simplifying the usage for our customers, we choose to hide Hard Disk browsing in our internal FileBrowser so that all the vertical space is dedicated to soundbanks and search, users with lots of soundbanks appreciate. Note that loading of external loops and audio files is still possible by Drag & Drop, it's still there but less emphasized. But It looks like hard disk browsing is important for our customers, so it will be back in the next version.

About the Edit panel:
Our engine is modular and a fixed panel cannot match the diversity of structures and controls that are available in our instruments.
This is the reason why we introduced macro controls and scripted instruments in the first place.
But we heard the comments about the lack of editing and are actively working to provide a default editing panel.

I hope this is clarify things, don't hesitate to ask questions if not.

ttoz wrote:i just thoroughly checked out the motu mach 3 pages as i had decided I would go for the crossgrade price if it included strings, so i could have a decent alternative to east west. But believe it or not, there is no orchestral library included *at all*.

What a bummer.
It no longer gives the VSL instruments that came with version 2, but it has some strings, brass, woodwinds and orchestral percussion. It's not a replacement for an East/West library, but it can get the job done.
These instruments are in the Universal Loops & Instruments.ufs collection

Am I allowed to transfer my PLUGSOUND PRO and Synths Anthology license? I just rarely ever use them. If so, $100 for both.
