Do you have any comment on your immorality then? That's what I'm sayin. If you like live why would you not want to try a demo! Blind brand loyalty makes not sense to me for a company that put out live 8. Does not mean i do not love live, but why not be happy about this instead of having to be unhappy. The only people who should be unhappy are people who work at ableton (and i really doubt they are worried cause they knew this was coming for over two years now and have been preparing to make live 9 GREAT!)osiris wrote:How can you even say things without even trying the software first?
I excited for both companies! The question who gets my money, live 9 or BW 1

I'm curious about this as well.Bronto Scorpio wrote:Another interesting thing will be how the per note automation is implemented. Maybe they use the note expression VST3.5 thingy?Bronto Scorpio wrote:I hope they have a good freeze or even bounce in place implementation
That's crucial to me (says the Cubase user).

Otherwise it would only work with the internal instruments (At least for polyphonic material).

Are you seriously saying it? Should people be happy if they can get music for free from the torrent because only people who should be unhappy are people who write that song?felonytrance wrote:That's what I'm sayin. OK, maybe a little bit - in that it has knobs and orange and drawable graphs. Arranger and blah blah blah. But you know FL had this also. I'd say give it a chance before you start screaming lawsuit. The Vember guys are brilliant and Surge is an under appreciated gem.

Agreed - it would be great if it has Cubase 6's Note Expression technology included.Bronto Scorpio wrote: Another interesting thing will be how the per note automation is implemented. Maybe they use the note expression VST3.5 thingy?

However, to persuade me to switch from Live it would need a whole pile of standard Ableton Live features which so far we don't know that Bitwig Studio has:
+ Video support
+ Rewire support
+ AU support
+ MIDI effects
+ Groove quantise/extraction
+ Unlimited audio/MIDI tracks, instruments and effects
+ More than 3 aux send slots
+ "Gapless audio" engine on the fly
+ Launch Modes
+ Freeze
+ Automatic plugin delay compensation, and track delay settings
+ Cross fades
+ Per track export
+ External instrument/effect use
+ Awesome library for the instruments, including loads of third party content (commercial and free)
+ flexible routing between tracks
+ Easy key mapping and MIDI controller mapping
+ Support for popular MIDI controllers
These are all features I have taken for granted in Live for ages now, but the lack of reference to them in the web announcement suggest that perhaps some or all of these features would be missing.
While they have some features that Live 8 users have been requesting for Live 9 (and will very soon find out about from Ableton...) the reverse will equally apply: if Bitwig lacks some of these things it will be a cause of contention for those who switch. So let's wait and see.... personally I think that Bitwig Studio may turn out to be a bit of a disappointment to *some* of those who are presently hyped about it.

If the rancor doesn't stop and the thread return to civil discussion of the software, threads will be locked and maybe warnings given. That goes for both of the threads that have been derailed by "u troll" "NO U TROLL" nonsense.

Use your beloved VST plug-ins. In case of a plug-in crash, a protective mechanism prevents the application from crashing and you from losing your work.

They mention being able to bounce in place, not just on an audio track, but on a midi track too because audio and midi can exist on the same track. The question is, can bounced regions but turned back into midi at a later time (essentially providing freeze functionality)Bronto Scorpio wrote:I hope they have a good freeze or even bounce in place implementation

As for how it handles in use, clearly time will tell.
Well, actually I totally agree with that but feel the need to add that to me it also appears to be heavily influenced by both Reaper and Studio 1 - and probably by a few other hosts as well - my assumption would be that Bitiwg more or less started with the Live layout and paradigm but added right from the very start DSP modules right to the core (that's a novelty, me thinks) - Claes was involved from the very beginning, I think - and probably a few other smart architectural things as well - and then had a good look around. And there's nothing wrong with that, I think. You always have to start somewhere. But calling it a 'Live Clone' as has been done in this very thread is another thing.

It would be awesome if i would be implemented like that. Being able to bounce a midi clip right on the midi track....well that would be a major improvement of my workflow. Bounce in place is one of the features I'm seriously missing in Cubase.

What I mean is simply this that everyone should be stoked about a new product that comes on the makret that is similar to the one that we love. It is healthy competition. What I meant by ableton no be excited is because they have direct competition with long time employees who know (and help implement) many of the things that made their product into the one that we love.
When my dad formed his own lawfirm the firm he left was pissed because he knew how everything worked, clients, connections, all the little dirty secrets, and even took some of the clients because of how talented he was. All this knowledge gave him a leg up and allowed his firm to succeed way beyond his old firm which was one of the best in the state. All because the firm did not value their input
