Yes. Critical for me.

As an example Studio One is probably the most stable 1.0 Daw I have come across. A flat out solid sustained effort into v.2. I would be very impressed if BW can match that high level of product reliability at such an early stage. Yes...ongoing support will also reveal a good deal about BW.

Any idea how many developers/support staff Studio One have? I guess their benefit is that they have the financial support of Presonus behind them...

That's an interesting point, but will only work in the favour is Bitwig Studio genuinely offers a credible alternative to Ableton in terms of features, support, hardware, third parties, etc. Otherwise they pick up the title "poor man's Ableton" in the same way that has happened with various linear recording programmes and notation software.

Not sure about the exact team size but as of about 12 - 18 months agothis was the team. But they also have always had other members like Jonathan Hillman in the US so it is likely bigger still.

True. The flip side of this level of hype and buzz is the expectancy level to deliver the goods.

I just hope this will offer some advantages for people like me that use other DAWs but would like to own it as a live-act/dj tool for which purposes Ableton Live is way too expensive and Lite/Intro versions are too limited.

About hardware support - I'd be really surprised if BWS wouldn't support hardware made for Ableton Live

If, as reported on the Propellerhead site, BWS doesn't have rewire, that will be a stumbling block for use as part of a multi-DAW setup. A lot of folk here may complain about rewire, but a lot of users out there rely on it still.

I guess that might be quite a deal breaker for many, I wouldnt care at all as I have Studio One 2 + Renoise for DAW-specific tasks and this little fella I'd like to get to use as DJing tool only, to replace my Live Lite which I find very limiting

I'd love that black interface in dark club conditions too, very easy on the eyes there

Too right. There's a lot of Reason users out there (for starters) who buy into Ableton and various other hosts as a way to expand their setup, e.g. for live stuff.

It's a fact that when they launched a decade or so ago, both Reason and Live became successful initially because new users could Rewire them into a more full-featured DAW. People wanted the cool new software on the block, but still needed a more complete DAW to rely on.

I hope that Bitwig get on the case with rewire for the same reasons.

I'd be surprised if they did... right at the start. I think they would mention it on their site as a feature.
