The others in that pack I linked to are generally better I think... but yes, there was quite a craze for producing skins about four years ago, which soon died down when people realised that producing a good graphical look is actually easier said than done ;)

The magnitude of the reception proves at least one thing, despite a saturated market - Bitwig seemw to provoke a quite diverse response. I really hope they manage to use this for good, and that they will not drag their feets and loose momentum. I'm really curious as to try out their studio solution.

For me, a big point of Live, that's lost on me, is...that it's designed to use "live" and I don't. So I like the feature set and work flow (for the most part) but I'm paying a CPU price for something that I don't use, ie the real time temporal manipulation. I doubt if I've ever pitch/time stretched a sample in Live. Ever. OK, once to see if it worked. So if this ends up being a tool that's less of a live beat matching/mixing tool and more of a traditional DAW with Live inspiration, I'm in.

No idea - sorry (I'm not the creator of this stuff, just sharing a link for the skins).

Dressing up in a donkey suit and singing ave maria in the middle of the M25 would provoke quite a diverse response as well.

I don't always think that this is a valid excuse for the CPU usage.

Ok, perhaps someone can help shed some light on this.

1 instance of Kontakt, with patch of about 50 simultaneous voices, 256 sample buffer:

- Live 8.2.7 - 35%
- Live 8.1.5 - 22%
- Live 7.0.18 - 7%

Setup: iMac, 4core i5, 8gb RAM, Saffire PRO 40

I've had similar issues where I've been able to use ton of plugs and not have bad CPU usage and then the next update comes along and it drastically increases.

People were up in arms when reason 6 increased a little bit but with ableton you never really know what your going to get update to update. I just want it to be consistent, less features, and stable for live stuff not half assed DAW features.
no purchase until everything goes to usb 3.0 and all hosts are 64 bit!

Sounds about right with my experiences of Live too, I hope Bitwig will be a much better app all round with resources, It's about time somebody did something similar to Live but with better system use, really looking forward to it ;)

I saw similar CPU usage on a MBP. However, adding more and more plugins didn't actually add a lot of extra CPU.

...but would not work with MIDI or Audio clips even if you asked really nicely. :hihi:
