Well...I'm not one of those that's party to trying it out, but, the title "Famous Keys" says plenty...but if you're looking for a straight up description of what's in it, I'm sure that'll be posted soon enough...db wrote:What's the general theme of FK2 presets?WilliamK wrote:This is the post where beta-testers can write comments about FK2. Just finished dl'ing. For some reason the net is really slow today so it took forever on my adsl.
Anyway, what are you looking for from us specifically, William? Patch creation, criticism of the sounds themselves, look for sound bugs, or all three? So far I'm really liking the sounds - the D50 stuff is great and will blend nicely with other EVE soundsets.
Well anyway, here is the first bug I noticed. Super Saw soundset: there is a gap in the multisamples at E5. Instead of E5, A5 is played. All the following notes are also incorrect. Also there is alot of difference in brightness between multisamples in this set, almost as if a different filter setting was enabled for certain notes. For instance D4 versus E4, D4 is very bright and E4 is muffled. Personally it would be preferable to have all the notes very bright and be able to EQ/Filter them afterwards if necessary.
Oddly both of the exact same above problems exist in the Super Pulse soundset...

Just a thought about this, you have turned the effects off and turned the mod dial all the way down.
Only saying this as I had a quick play through the sounds and wondered why some sounded really odd.
Should get chance tomorrow to start creating, that's if losing the hour in bed doesn't make too tired.

First thoughts...
Some of these presets are simply beautiful:
Pad JV 801
D50 EP
Pure Saws
Minor quibble with "Solo Moog" - gilde is too extreme for my taste, but so far this set manages to be blend exceptionally well with previous soundsets, but different enough to easily justify picking this one up. Hell, if you own Eve you should get all of the soundsets!
Excellent work so far!

Thanks guys for all the comments, sorry Im a bit slow, using the library internet. Should have a conection at home latter today or tomorrow. I plan to release the FK2 tomorrow.
The problems with the Pulse and Saw waveforms is that they are very complex and hard to sample. So it will have some brightnes problems on some. But the patches Im doing uses the LP filter, so that goes away anyway. I will check the tuning problem, maybe I did something wrong on the conversions...

Hi William--
The issues I found were with JV80, solo, super pulse and (if I remember correctly) SV77--these are the aforementioned tuning trouble. It sounded to me that one of them, I think the SV77, had a spot where the same velocity from key to key had a different timbre. I could be wrong about that, though. Several of your presets had the volume levels all the way up on one or more channels, causing clipping--but I assume you'll correct that in the final release.
If you are releasing the F2K soon, does that mean you aren't looking for patches this time?
Tom

I want to make patches!
Didn't have a chance to install it yet, I have to burn everything on CD at work and then transfer it to my audio PC at home. I have burned a CD now so expect some patches (for soundbank 2?) soon.
Peter.

Hi, floyd...
Could you fix the link, please? I'd like to see what you've come up with.
