Oh, so people know already and yet they keep exposing their anxiety in public?! To explain that kind of behavior we need to consult a more twisted form of defence. Lets try this one then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction_formation
In psychoanalytic theory, reaction formation is a defensive process (defense mechanism) in which anxiety-producing or unacceptable emotions and impulses are mastered by exaggeration (hypertrophy) of the directly opposing tendency.[1][2]
Sounds pretty original to me.
1. its wiki...so no guarantee of its factual nature
2. its thoery, so no guarantee of its factual nature

seems strange to post things you prob dont understand yourself and that are not proven facts, just to try and humiliate someone else

looks like you might have some kind of syndrome, i'll have to look on wiki and see if i can find it

Very true.

Psycho-analysis is about as scientifically credible as homeopathy.

In other words, that theory is cock...

Well, I am, actually educated into the field so I know what it is about. And though it is The wiki, the article is right as far as concern the definition of Freud's term. And though it is theory, it is a pretty plausible explanation of compulsive behavior where someone in an exaggerated and unatural way tries to appear superior to others. So, if you persistently tries to convince me that your dick is big, reaction information tells me that you are really worried about whether is too small.

And stop whining about humiliation. Can't you see the glimpse in my eye?

A lot of stuff in that field is babble anyways....

But, we do have actions/behaviours here that seem to indicate something... :)

Some nostalgia perhaps?

No that's not the case at all - obviously as an early development within psychology it has been outgrown in some respects but many of its insights (mind as a system, the role of the unconscious, defence mechanisms, the therapeutic role of dialogue) are still valid to this day but in a more developed form eg:

Fans=Acknowledge that may be issues with the thing involved. CPU issues for example. We like what we see but we want to see some improvements

Fanbois=Refuse to accept that there are issues. Almost behave like members of a cult.

The first sentence of that wiki article says it all -

Neuro-psychoanalysis is a movement within neuroscience

Sounds more like a philosophical perspective, than a separate scientific discipline.

What testable predictions does neuro-psychoanalysis make that neuroscience alone does not?

It's more a theoretical perspective - neuroscience is a huge field encompassing many theoretical perspectives. Read up on it (Oliver Sacks is a good example). This isn't the place (and I don't have time) to discuss it here. I just felt your comment was an unfair comparison, psychoanalysis has considerably more scientific credibility than homeopathy will ever have.

uuummmmm...we just brought in Neuroscience VS Psychoanalytics .... :hihi: :hihi:

This is an EPIC thread...
