My soundcards are Steinberg UR28M and Focusrite Saffirekhanyz wrote:It could be my ASIO drivers. I've only tried M-Audio and EMU interfaces. I also have a Line 6 I could try.
Even so, I've never had an issue with the EMU drivers before. It could be the 64-bit thing mentioned above as I'm on 32-bit.
Somebody tried Harrison Mixbus for Windows?

How in the HELL did you get it working? I am finding it exceedingly complicated to set up. I don't know how to setup Jack. The manual is no help. No videos. Eek.C-note wrote:I'm hoping that MixBus ditches Jack and just does ASIO on Windows. Maybe Windows Audio too, whatever the new Win7 one is. Just tried it out on Win7/64 - installed easily and uses ASIO

@C-note - I think it's the system and not the drivers then. The Line 6 does the same. MixBus hangs at the "Starting Audio Engine" splash screen. Only ASIO4ALL gets past it. I'll do an uninstall and reinstall with Jack 1.9.8 and see what happens.
@MickGael - Are you on a 32-bit or 64-bit system?
After you have installed MixBus, when you first run it the Audio Setup Panel should come up. Then, to setup Jack you:
1 - select ASIO or PortAudio
2 - select your interface (It will be the default under PortAudio)
3 - leave the other settings alone for now.
4 - click on Start.
You then get the "Starting Audio Engine" Message and then MixBus should come after a little wait. If it hangs, then there's a problem with the Audio Configuration. First thing to do is check you have the latest drivers for your interface. The second thing to do is get ASIO4ALL and try that. The version of Jack that MixBus installs is only the essential components (I think). There doesn't look like anything else you can set.
Any more issues and I'd get in touch with Harrison.

I just ran the installer and the audio engine found the UR28M automatically then ran. No fuss, no muss. Never saw the word "Jack". The machine I installed on is: win7/64/ 950 I7 3.06 12GB ram Nvidia GTX 260 graphics if that helps.MickGael wrote:64-bitkhanyz wrote:@MickGael - Are you on a 32-bit or 64-bit system?

I've given up for now. It works with ASIO4ALL but not using ASIO drivers directly. Jack v1.9.8 works fine with the ASIO drivers so I think it's the MixBus implementation. It's version of Jack is 1.9.9.
There's an update pending (but no date) so I'll wait for it.

Hey guys, how did you get VST working ?
I don't know where it expects the vst plugins folder to be located.

"Mixbus does NOT support VST plug-ins in any current release, but this is under development."
I've used Harrison boards, so I really want to like this but it is extremely unpolished compared to what I ma used to with Cubase 6.

The documentation I have found (such as it is) is for Macs. Glad to hear that you can load VST, but I cannot figure out how to get the software to load it or where to find the appropriate dialogue.LawrenceF wrote:It loads VST plugs. I loaded some in the Win demo.

If you right click in a mixer strip you get the menu to open the plugin manager. You right click in the plugin slots at the top.
Also, I asked about the location of VSTs and Harrison said:

VST_PATH takes overall priority. Setting environment variables can be achieved through My Compuyer->Properties->Advanced System Settings (you might need a reboot, too).

The registry VST path is for your default one. The environment variable allows for custom ones. You can then create a test area for MixBus VSTs.
