mutools wrote:Juan, i don't think that's a good option as you will loose the Play Editor!
So doing it this way, the E3 way, is ok!
Ok
mutools wrote:Funny, you can do so much with E1 + E2, and you guys immediately go for the wildest beast E3 :D
:hihi:

MuPads only, or mukits too?
Layering samples you mean right? or just mupads with the 1 sample?

No ..there is no real explanation how to work with the MUX editor with a example
The deep editor is the MUX enviroment
Suppose you have made a instrument assembled of sub modules there, than you must design a play editor for this instrument
For practice take the basic synth..the play editor show no knobs for th e parameter
Than you must unlock the layout from the play editor..probably to have the possibility to add the submodule knobs
Yes I understand, but for a straight forward task as to add an instrument to a MuDrum pad, it would be very devious to do that through the editor. But it might be that we're thinking and talking about different things here :)

Start with a bunch of MuPads, covering all basic kinds of drum sounds i.e. basdrums, snares, hats, claps, etc...

1 sample or 2 samples, that's up to your creative flow!
And you can add (pref. cpu-friendly) effects to shape the sound more etc.

MuPads E1 + E2 are fun and much easier than the complex modular world, and it's still very flexible.

Jo, I think there is a little bug in 4.0.1...

I have inserted 2 synths in rack 1 (MuLabs MUX) and 2 (Sylenth1) and have both GUIs open...

If I click on the GUI of Mux, it sets the midi focus to Mux (like it did always in M4)...but if I click on the GUI of Sylenth1 it doesn't get the midi focus like it did before...

Did you change something here???

Post

Yes it's a known bug, it's already fixed here in the new version. New package coming one of these days.

Assign the LFO parameter to one of the 3 top meta parameter and assign the modwheel to this meta parameter.
This should work as long as you have the MuSynth (rack) focused.
Has to do with midi focus, i think.

If you need it session wide, use the Session MiDi Controller Map in the Session menu.
Thank you AndreasD, it works, but Mulab doesn't react very quickly when I move the modulation wheel, maybe my computer has not enought power

Which version do you use? Note there was some MIDI controler performance bug some versions ago, has been foxed in M4.0.101.

Post

I use 4.0.99, and it's the most recent available for now.

Post

I'm sure I d/l v4.0.100? Is there a single place to get these new versions? its just that the links are scattered everywhere and not easy to find. Would it be possible to have link on your site to latest test release?

Post

There is only 1 place for the 'formal' M4 pre-release package: http://www.mutools.com/downloads.html

From time to time, for test reasons, i distribute patches, but these are temporary.

Next package, including the above mentioned fix, will be available one of these days.

Post

I was just a bit confused by pquenin's remark about v4.0.99 being the latest when I have d/l v4.0.100 and as the link takes you to the v4.0.99 I assumed each link was a seperate d/l location.

Minor UI tracking error: if you have the position widget set to display both bar/beat and time, changing the tempo in the tempo widget doesn't affect the time displayed.

For example, set the tempo to 60 and position to the start of bar 6; correctly the time displays 20 seconds (5 * 4 * 1). Change the tempo to 120. The time does not change (should read 10). Changing position corrects it, so it's just not getting updated on tempo change.

Ideally, I'd like 10ths of a second, too...

How do I set MuLab up to record the midi out from one track to another?

When I put a midi sequencer in Rack 1 and send its output to Rack 2 where I've put an instrument, then the instrument plays the incoming notes as expected. That works fine. But now I would like to record those midi notes to a track. Must be possible, but how? :help:

When I switch the rack desk to windowed mode and minimize it after that, the taskbar appears, but it's empty - there is no rack desk icon in it. An intended behavior?

Yes. Expected but it would be nice if it was not. You can still use a shortcut for the switch.
